"Rock And Roll" England Slight Favourites In Rescheduled 5th Test vs India: Graeme Swann

Former England spinner Graeme Swann is thrilled with the transformation the English Test team has undergone under the leadership of new captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum. He said that the momentum they are carrying from the recent series sweep over New Zealand makes them "slight favourites" for the rescheduled fifth Test against India in Birmingham. Swann said that if the Test had happened as per schedule last year, then he would have handed it to India "on a platter" as they were the better team then. But now, with England's new exciting brand of cricket, he feels the hosts hold the edge.

Would like to see Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur as third and fourth pacers for England Test: Ajit Agarkar

Ajit Agarkar said he would prefer Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur as the team's third and the fourth pacers respectively when India take on England in the rescheduled fifth and final Test beginning in Edgbaston on Friday. With Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami a certainty in the playing XI, India has other pace options in Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Shardul Thakur and Umesh Yadav to choose from.

"He Is World Class": Graeme Swann Wants This India Leg Spinner In Test Squad

Graeme Swann was undoubtedly one of the best spinners in the world while he was still tweaking it for England and he is an equally good cricket commentator and pundit now that he has decided to pick up the mic. Swann's views about Indian cricket in particular are well respected as he makes interesting observations and follows Indian cricket and the IPL.

"They Are Coming In Cold...": Ex-England Great Feels India Have This "Disadvantage" In Upcoming Test

England will be playing India on the back of the three-Test series against New Zealand and former off-spinner Graeme Swann believes it would make the hosts slight favourites going into the rescheduled fifth Test starting in Birmingham on Friday. England on Monday completed a 3-0 series whitewash against New Zealand after wining the third and final Test by seven wickets. "England are in a very good position and I would say they are slight favourites because of that series (against New Zealand)," Swann said in a virtual interaction, facilitated by Sony Sports, official broadcasters of India-England series.

India vs England: Yuzvendra Chahal should be in the Test squad, says Graeme Swann

Former England off-spinner and forever Ashes hero Graeme Swann talks to TOI about all things spin ahead of the India-England Test in Birmingham...Is it fair to say that since you retired, England have not had a world-class off-spinner who can bowl menacingly in Tests?England have struggled with spinners since I finished. They've had some good bowlers, though. Moeen Ali is a vastly under-rated off-spinner. He could have taken more Test wickets. The main issue is the way spinners are captained and looked after in England. It is diabolical. A lot of captains in English cricket don't understand how a spinner works, how his mind needs to be during a game, how his field setting needs to be. I was lucky I had captains who let me take onus and control. Andrew Strauss was exceptional. He let me have my own fields and would come up with suggestions every now and again. I was quite a gregarious, confident character so that suited me. In the past, the English way was to always be very, very negative… as a captain, to not start with attacking fields, to force a spinner to just go one an over and then gradually bring in fielders if the pressure builds. I always thought it was the other way around: as a finger spinner, you should build the pressure immediately. Your first 10-15 balls to a batsman are your most dangerous, that is when the batsman hasn't read you.

"Went From Being Almost An Embarrassment...": Graeme Swann On Eoin Morgan's Legacy In White-Ball Cricket

Since a day or two, there have been reports doing the rounds that England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan is likely to bring down curtains on his career. British media has widely reported that Morgan might retire on Tuesday morning. On Monday, former England spinner Graeme Swann spoke to select media on different topics and he was asked about Morgan and the kind of legacy he will leave behind. Swann did not hold back in his praise, saying there would be something "crazy" about English cricket if Morgan is not offered a role immediately once he calls time on his career.
