Former Proteas batter Faf du Plessis says that the SA20 will play a crucial impact on South African cricket for next year's T20 League.
Johannesburg Super Kings, the franchise for the South African domestic T20 League SA20, revealed their logo on Thursday. The franchise is owned by Chennai Super Kings Sports Limited, the owners of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings. "Everywhere we go! Say Yellove to the Joburg Super Kings! @faf1307 #WhistlesForJoburg," tweeted the account of the franchise. The logo looks similar to the CSK logo and features the lion and crown that have become a huge part of the franchise's cricketing culture over the years.

Faf du Plessis and said that the former CSK star will play a pivotal role as one of its marquee players in the inaugural edition of the CSA T20 league. Du Plessis, who was also part of CSK in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2011 to 2021, except for 2016 and 2017, when the team was suspended, was recently roped in by the Johannesburg franchise. Du Plessis, however, played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the last edition of the IPL.
The Chennai Super Kings-owned Johannesburg franchise on Sunday announced the signings of Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana, Romario Shepherd and Gerald Coetzee for the inaugural season of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) T20 League. The inaugural edition of the CSA T20 League is scheduled to be played in January-February 2023 and all the six franchises in the tournament have been acquired by current IPL team owners. "As per the rules of CSA, we are eligible to take four players from the contracted list of players who are available... one marquee player from South Africa. From the balance three, not more than two can be from one country," K. S Viswanathan, CEO of CSK Cricket Limited was quoted as saying by Sportstar.
As the hype around Cricket South Africa's upcoming T20 tournament in January 2023 grows, the Gqeberha-based franchise is the latest to receive its official name.
Former Proteas captain Faf du Plessis will don the colours of the Johannesburg Super Kings as skipper in Cricket South Africa's T20 league which begins next year.
