'Gautam Gambhir To Be Sacked' Report Discarded As "Malicious Intent". However...

Former India batter Aakash Chopra has rubbished the rumours of head coach Gautam Gambhir's ouster if the team fails to put on a show against Australia in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Gambhir and the senior players have come under the scanner after India were whitewashed at home by New Zealand, their first Test series loss at home in nearly 12 years. Few days back, a report in Dainik Jagran suggested that Gambhir could be removed from his role in Test cricket if India fail to impress in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting November 22.

Gautam Gambhir, VVS Laxman Not Behind Sanju Samson's Fiery Form? AB De Villiers Serves 'I Doubt' Verdict

Former South Africa captain AB de Villiers says he is proud of India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, who is excelling in his new role as opener in the national T20I set-up. De Villiers revealed he and Samson have been in touch for a while, and suggested that something has changed in the latter's game. The former Proteas captain's remark came after Samson smashed a century in the first T20I against South Africa on Friday, his second triple-figure score in as many games in the format.

Naveen-ul-Haq To RCB? Ex-LSG Star's Viral "Bat With Virat Kohli" Remark Makes Heads Turn

Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq recently made a comment which brought back the memories of his infamous argument with star India batter Virat Kohli. The on-field spat between Virat Kohli and Naveen-ul-Haq became one of the biggest talking points of IPL 2023. Kohli, who was playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, got indulged into a heated argument with Lucknow Super Giants pacer Naveen during their teams' match in Lucknow in May 2023. This spat took an ugly turn when Gautam Gambhir, who was LSG's mentor back then, also got involved and was at loggerheads with Kohli.

Gautam Gambhir Out? Report Says India Coach To Lose Test Role If...

The start to what was promised to be a fruitful coaching career hasn't gone the way Gautam Gambhir or the well-wishers of the Indian team had predicted. Gambhir arrived in the Indian team on the back of a title-winning campaign at Kolkata Knight Riders. But, since becoming Team India's head coach, Gambhir has suffered an ODI series loss in Sri Lanka and a clean sweep at home against New Zealand in Tests. As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) top brass tightens its screws on the slumping performances, Gambhir faces a make-or-break Test campaign against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The series is unarguably Gambhir's biggest 'Test' to sustain the India coach job in the longest format.

Division In Team India: Report Claims Gautam Gambhir, Think Tank Not On Same Page Regarding...

Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir has come under a lot of criticism following the 0-3 whitewash in the Test series against New Zealand. A number of topics were discussed and a report by PTI claimed that Gambhir and the team think-tank are currently not "on the same page" when it comes to certain decisions regarding the team.

"There Is Space For Cheteshwar Pujara": Ex-India Star's Big Message For Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma

India will need someone like KL Rahul or Abhimanyu Easwaran, who can play conventional style of cricket, during the challenging tour of Australia and there is space for veteran Cheteshwar Pujara in the Test side, reckons former batter Robin Uthappa. The Indian batting lineup, brimming with stroke players, has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the five-match Test series Down Under. The pressure to play high-quality cricket and deliver has mounted in the wake of humiliating 0-3 whitewash by New Zealand at home. "We need someone defensive, someone who can play conventional, traditional Test cricket. As of now, KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran are the ones who can play that role," Uthappa, expert JioCinema & Sports18, said in a virtual media interaction.
