Assam's largest city Guwahati is set to be the first Test cricket venue in the northeast region when India take on South Africa here in November, BCCI general secretary Devajit Saikia said on Sunday. The city will also host its first-ever world cup match later this year during the ICC Women's ODI World Cup, he said. "No Test and world cup matches have been played in Guwahati so far. But, as per the decision taken at the BCCI apex council meeting on Saturday, Guwahati will host both those matches this year," Saikia said.

BCCI on Thursday announced a cash prize of Rs 58 crore for the ICC Champions Trophy-winning Indian team, with the contributions of all players, coaching staff, support staff and members of men's selection committee to be recognised. Speaking to ANI, Saikia revealed the breakdown of the cash prize, saying, "Rs 3 crore each will be given to every player. Rs 3 crore will be given to the head coach (Gautam Gambhir), Rs 50 lakh will be given to the remaining coaches (assistant coaches Ryan Ten Doeschate, Abhishek Nayar, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, bowling coach Morne Morkel), remaining support staff will 50 lakh each and BCCI officials will get Rs 25 lakh each."

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has really been strict about its rules set for centrally-contracted players when it comes to their participation in domestic matches. As per BCCI's guidelines that were shared by the Board last year, a centrally-contracted player, who is fit and not in national duty, needs to play domestic cricket for his respective team. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan didn't follow the instructions earlier and were thus dropped out of BCCI central contract.
