Dan Bewley clinched his first win of the season at a dramatic Round 6 of the Speedway GP in Malilla, Sweden. Sitting second in the final as the last lap began, Bewley pulled off a magnificent overtake out of nowhere, shooting down the inside line and taking the lead off Martin Vaculik. Ad And he held onto the lead to take a memorable triumph, in a final that also saw a heavy crash between Freddie Lindgren and Vaculik that resulted in the former not competing in the restart.

Madsen remained well composed in second while the two Brits Robert Lambert and Tai Woffinden were well beaten in third and fourth. Dan Bewley has revealed how a nasty crash in 2018 made him “a better rider in the long run” as he prepares to compete in round five of the 2023 Speedway Grand Prix in Gorzow, Poland. Bewley, 24, broke his femur, shoulder and wrist following a crash while riding for Workington Comets. Ad He was left in a wheelchair for several months following the incident.
Bartosz Zmarzlik was the one constant in an unpredictable Teterow Grand Prix and took an inevitable victory after heartbreak for Dan Bewley. Bewley qualified for the semi-finals in second place behind Zmarzlik, but his bike packed up as he lined up for that semi-final from a dominant inside gate, and he was unable to compete. Freddie Lindgren emerged victorious from a hugely controversial Grand Prix of Poland final in Warsaw, though Bartosz Zmarzlik retains the lead of the world championship. Jack Holder had been on course for his maiden GP victory in the first running of the final, but that was stopped when Zmarzlik knocked Jason Doyle off his bike on lap three in a clumsy move up the inside.
