'Improving' Harry Kane Hits Brace As Bayern Munich Beat Bremen To Move Nine Clear

Harry Kane said he was still "improving" after scoring two penalties as Bayern Munich beat Werder Bremen 3-0 on Friday to go nine points clear of Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. There were few chances in the first half but Kane signalled his intent 30 seconds after the break, rattling the crossbar with a shot from outside the box. Kane was key in winning Bayern's first penalty and breaking Bremen's stubborn resistance. The England captain tussled with defender Anthony Young and headed a chipped cross unsighted against the Bremen man's arm, which was slightly extended.

Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies Extends Until 2030, Rebuffing Real Madrid

Alphonso Davies has extended his deal with Bayern Munich to 2030, the German club announced on Tuesday, with the Canada captain rebuffing reported interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Wing-back Davies, 24, has won five Bundesliga titles and the Champions League with Bayern but had been linked with a move to Real, as his contract was set to expire in the summer.  The five-year extension will keep Davies at the club he joined from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps as an 18-year-old in 2019.

Victor Boniface Helps Dominant Bayer Leverkusen Cut Bayern Munich Lead To Six Points

Bayer Leverkusen beat Hoffenheim 3-1 on Sunday to move within six points of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich, with Victor Boniface scoring a goal just days after his move to Saudi Arabia collapsed. The 24-year-old was stood down from training last week as he explored a transfer to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Saudi side Al-Nassr. The deal fell through on Wednesday and Boniface was given a surprise start by coach Xabi Alonso. Boniface, who had not played for Leverkusen since injuring his thigh on international duty with Nigeria in November, opened the scoring in the 15th minute.

Bayern Munich Survive Late Holstein Kiel Fightback To Go Nine Points Clear

Bayern Munich stretched their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to nine points on Saturday with an extraordinary 4-3 victory over Holstein Kiel. Bayern led 4-0 as Harry Kane scored twice, but Finn Porath replied for Kiel before Steven Skrzybski's stoppage-time double threatened to steal an unlikely point. The full-time whistle was met with relief around the Allianz Arena. "None of us are happy that we won 4-3 here," Jamal Musiala, scorer of Bayern's first goal, told Sky Sport. "We have to have the mentality to work for 90 minutes and avoid conceding goals."

Manchester City Squeeze Into UEFA Champions League Knockouts, To Face Real Madrid Or Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola said he cannot see Manchester City winning the Champions League on current form, but believes his side will be better when they face the might of either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich next month. City needed a second-half fightback from 1-0 down to beat Club Brugge 3-1 on Wednesday to avoid crashing out before the knockout stages for the first time since 2012. Their reward could be just a stay of execution against either the defending champions or Guardiola's former club Bayern.

Borussia Dortmund Appoint Former Bayern Munich Coach Niko Kovac Till 2026

Former Bayern Munich coach Niko Kovac will take over as Borussia Dortmund boss until 2026, sporting director Lars Ricken confirmed on Wednesday. The 53-year-old will replace Nuri Sahin, who was sacked last week, with Dortmund since led by interim coach Mike Tullberg. "I can confirm we have reached an agreement (with Kovac)," Ricken told DAZN after Dortmund's 3-1 home win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League. "Mike Tullberg will lead the team on Saturday (in the league against Heidenheim), before Niko takes over on Sunday."
