Following Rauf's positive test on Tuesday, the rest of the squad members and support personnel were retested. All these tests have come out negative.
Australia batsman Usman Khawaja is back in the country of his birth - for the first time as an international cricketer - and stated that playing in Pakistan will be a "special" moment.
India captain Rohit Sharma will eye yet another milestone when his team takes on Sri Lanka in the third T20I at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala later on Sunday. Rohit, who recently went past Martin Guptill to become the leading run-scorer in T20Is, is just 18 runs away from completing 1000 T20I runs as a captain. Rohit, who is expected to take charge of the Indian team for 28th time in T20Is on Sunday, could become the 2nd fastest to reach this landmark after Pakistan captain Babar Azam.
Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has been ruled out of the Australia series with a foot injury, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Wednesday. Australia will tour Pakistan for three Tests, three ODIs, and one T20I. The first Test will be played in Rawalpindi from March 4. "Mohammad Nawaz has been ruled out of the series with a foot injury. He will not be replaced in the side," PCB said in a statement. Naseem Shah and Sarfaraz Ahmed have been added as traveling reserves. They will only be considered for selection if there is an injury.
Rohit Sharma has been one of the most prolific run-getter in T20 internationals over the years, and currently in the third spot overall. On Thursday, when he walks out to bat in the 1st T20I against Sri Lanka in Lucknow, the Indian captain will be on the cusp of completing a landmark and equalling the mark of Pakistan's star batter and captain Babar Azam.
Former West Indies great Sir Vivian Richards has lavished huge praise on Pakistan's star batter and captain Babar Azam. Richards, who is a mentor for Pakistan Super League team Quetta Gladiators, compared Babar with legendary boxer Muhammad Ali during an interview with Cricket Pakistan. Babar Azam captained Pakistan to the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup last year and has been a run machine in international cricket for his side. He though has had a tough time in the ongoing PSL season as his team Karachi Kings have lost 8 matches in a row.
Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has defended Karachi Kings captain Babar Azam despite the team's inability to register even a single win in the current season of the Pakistan Super League. The Kings lost to Multan Sultans on Wednesday, to register their 8th loss in as many matches in PSL 2022. When asked whether the team needs a change in leadership next season, Butt used examples of great captains like MS Dhoni and Ricky Ponting to explain his point.
