Pakistan captain Babar Azam enjoyed another record-setting outing in T20 cricket but could not stop England from levelling the T20 series in Lahore on Friday.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam may have had a poor Asia Cup, but he has found his mojo again in the seven-match T20I series against England. On Friday, the 27-year-old became the joint-fastest player to reach 3000 runs in T20Is, drawing level with Indian batting icon Virat Kohli. Both players reached the milestone in 81 innings. In the process, he also overtook Ireland's Paul Stirling to become the fourth-highest run-scorer in the format. He is only behind Rohit Sharma, Kohli and New Zealand's Martin Guptill.
Phil Salt smashed a robust career-best 41-ball 88 not out to help England thrash Pakistan by eight wickets in the sixth Twenty20 international in Lahore on Friday. The England opener clobbered three sixes and 13 fours in the third fastest half century by an England batter in the shorter format to help his team chase down a target of 170 in just 14.3 overs. Salt's fiery knock overshadowed Babar Azam's 59-ball 87 not out that lifted the home team to 169-6 and saw Pakistan skipper equalling India star Virat Kohli's record of the fastest man to 3,000 runs in cricket's shortest format.
England's Phil Salt scored a blistering half-century as the visitors raced to an eight-wicket win over Pakistan in their sixth Twenty20 clash in Lahore on Friday to level the seven-match series at 3-3.
Pakistan vs England 6th T20I Live Score Updates:England won the toss and elected to bowl against Pakistan in the sixth T20I at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Young wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris was handed his debut, with Mohammad Rizwan making way for him in the playing XI. The series which had been a roller-coaster ride for both the teams earlier has now been tilted in favour of Pakistan as the hosts lead 3-2 after five matches. England need to win the 6th T20I to stay alive in the series. A lot of eyes will be on Pakistan openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan as the duo have scored 315 and 194 runs, respectively, in the series. They lead the run-scorers' chart in the series. On the other hand, Haris Rauf is the highest wicket-taker with 8 to his name. (LIVE SCORECARD)
Former India cricketer Rohan Gavaskar came out in support of Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who has been under the scanner for his low strike-rate in the shortest of the game. Despite consistently scoring runs, Babar's form has deteriorated since the start of the Asia Cup last month. Though he did score a century in the ongoing T20I series against Pakistan at home, his form in general has not impressed the critics. However, Gavaskar feels that Babar is "not a one-dimensional player", labelling the 27-year-old as a quality player.
