(Reuters) - Real Madrid have reached an agreement to sign French midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni from AS Monaco on a six-year deal, the two clubs announced on Saturday.
MADRID (AP) — Real Madrid is signing another young, highly rated French midfielder after reaching agreement with Monaco for the transfer of Aurélien Tchouaméni on Saturday.
The 22-year-old was linked with a move to the Premier League as both Liverpool and Manchester United showed interest, but ultimately it was the European champions who got the deal over the line.
France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has joined Real Madrid from Monaco, both clubs announced on Saturday. According to sources the 22-year-old has cost the Champions League and La Liga holders more than 80 million euros ($84 million) as well as an additional 20 million euros in bonuses. The former Bordeaux playmaker has won 11 caps since making his Les Bleus debut in September. "Real Madrid and Monaco have agreed on the transfer of the player Aurelien Tchouameni, who will be linked to the club for the next six seasons," they said.

Real said they would host a presentation ceremony for Tchouameni on Tuesday following a medical examination. Tchouameni will become the second most expensive sale in Monaco's history behind only Kylian Mbappe, who signed with Paris St Germain for 180 million euros in August 2017.
