Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is a man under severe pressure heading into Sunday's clash at Aston Villa.
Alvaro Morata has been included in Spain's squad for their upcoming Nations League matches, coach Luis de la Fuente announced Friday. The Spanish captain and AC Milan forward returns to the squad after overcoming a muscular problem that forced him to miss his country's opening two encounters in Group A4 of the Nations League -- a draw and a win. "For me he is one of the best strikers in the world. He is also a great captain, he unites a lot, he is very generous, he puts the good of the group first, he is the glue (of the team)," said De la Fuente.
Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe refused to guarantee Erik ten Hag's future at Old Trafford as he admitted the club is not "where it should be" under the troubled boss. Ratcliffe had a chance to quash reports that Ten Hag is in danger of the sack when he spoke ahead of United's crucial Premier League trip to Aston Villa on Sunday. But the 71-year-old's downbeat assessment of United's predicament was hardly encouraging for Ten Hag as he fights to save his job. "I don't want to answer that question. I like Erik. I think he's a very good coach but at the end of the day it's not my call," Ratcliffe told the BBC on Friday. Ten Hag's side are languishing in 13th place after winning only two of their first six league matches. They suffered a dismal 3-0 home defeat against Tottenham last weekend and blew a two-goal lead in their 3-3 draw at Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
Manchester United will face Aston Villa on Sunday in what could be Erik ten Hag's final game in charge of the club.
MANCHESTER, England : Manchester United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe said a decision about under-fire manager Erik ten Hag is not his call, and was reticent about whether he still has faith in the team's boss amid their worst start to the Premier League season since 1986-87.
