"If A Player Wants To Go...": Gujarat Titans Head Coach Ashish Nehra On Hardik Pandya Trade

Hardik Pandya's trade to Mumbai Indians (MI) from Gujarat Titans (GT) was definitely one the most surprising moves in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history. The all-rounder, who had made his debut in the marquee event playing for MI in 2015, returned to the franchise in 2023 after playing two seasons for GT. MI acquired the services of Hardik in an all-cash deal from GT. Speaking about the trade, GT's head coach Ashish Nehra explained the management's opinion while talking about the move.

GT's Ishant Sharma Reveals How Ashish Nehra Made Pacers Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna More Effective

Making Mohammed Siraj trust his outswinger a little more while getting Prasidh Krishna to bring his length a little ahead are the changes which Gujarat Titans' head coach Ashish Nehra has brought about in the two pacers, which in turn has made them more effective bowlers, revealed veteran pacer Ishant Sharma. "Ashish bhai didn't change much in his bowling. The only change he made was that sometimes, Siraj didn't feel very confident in his outswing. But this is the only difference in a good coach, especially if that coach has bowled in international cricket."

Hardik Pandya Handed Huge Punishment By BCCI After MI's Loss vs Gujarat Titans. Reason Is...

Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya and his team were handed hefty fines for maintaining a slow over rate, while their rival side Gujarat Titans' head coach Ashish Nehra also copped a financial penalty and a demerit point for conduct "contrary to the spirit of the game" in their IPL clash. MI lost by three wickets via the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method to GT in a rain-affected match which concluded well past midnight at the Wankhede Stadium. "As it was his team's second offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pandya was fined Rs 24 lakh," the IPL said in a statement. The rest of the MI team, including the impact player and concussion substitute, were each individually fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.

Ex-India Star's "Most Expensive Player" Praise For MI Pacer Jasprit Bumrah Goes Viral

Following Mumbai Indians (MI) loss to Gujarat Titans (GT) in a last-ball thriller, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra hailed pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah for his valiant spell which almost won five-time champions the game, saying that he deserves to be the "most expensive player" in the competition. Bumrah continued to add to his list to brilliant spells as his figures of 2/19 almost prevented GT from chasing down 156 runs, but the revised target and conditions after rain were enough for GT as they pulled off a memorable last ball win, ending MI's six-match winning run and going to the top of the table.

Nehra was furious as umpires were taking a long time to restart the game even when the rain appeared to have stopped. GT batter Rahul Tewatia was also furious.

In the fifth over, Sai Kishore dropped Suryakumar Yadav at mid-wicket off Prasidh Krishna. Then in the sixth over, Will Jacks got another life as Siraj dropped him off Arshad Khan. "No Better Coach Than Him For Indian Team": India Great Picks This IPL Coach For Top Job

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has thrown up some interesting equations. While traditional power-houses like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders find themselves in the bottom half of the 10-team IPL 2025 points table, teams like Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals have been at the top of their game. The Ashish Nehra-coached GT are a level above the others. With just two losses in eight games, GT have 12 points. Their Net Run-rate is also great, which has placed them at the top of the table.

"Ahead Of Jonty Rhodes": Ashish Nehra Picks India Star As Best Fielder 'Then And Now'

The IPL 2025 is in full swing. While batters and bowlers have given some terrific performance, the fielders too have been quite athletic on the field.  There have been some terrific catches while some of the run outs (especially MS Dhoni's run out of Abdul Samad in a match against Lucknow Super Giants) have been quite electric. Ahead of the match between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, coach Ashish Nehra was asked about the best fielder according to him.
