Manchester City are making plans to provide extra coach travel for supporters heading to the FA Cup semi-final, with no indication the game will be moved from Wembley.
Liverpool have asked for their FA Cup semi-final clash with Manchester City at Wembley next month to be moved.
On Wednesday (23 March) Rishi Sunak delivered his Spring Statement in the House of Commons, as the cost of living crisis deepens. Just hours before the statement, it was announced that inflation and UK prices rose by 6.2 per cent in the 12 months to February.
Andy Burnham is holding a press conference in the wake of Chancellor Rishi Sunak's Spring Statement, which comes after pleas for financial help from across the country as the cost of living boils to crisis point. The mayor of Greater Manchester is also set to give an update on coronavirus in the region for the first time in weeks, as case rates skyrocket in all 10 boroughs.
Los alcaldes de las ciudades de Liverpool y Mánchester han pedido que la semifinal de la FA Cup entre Liverpool y Manchester City cambie de sede, de Wembley a otro estadio, por la falta de trenes a Londres.
The Football Association expects around 2,500 Liverpool supporters to be impacted by the lack of trains to London for the weekend of their FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City.
Manchester and Liverpool have asked the Football Association (FA) to move next month's FA Cup semi-final between Manchester City and Liverpool to be moved from Wembley due to a lack of train services to London that weekend. City and Liverpool will meet over the Easter weekend but the mayors said the match would be difficult for fans to attend as engineering work scheduled for April 16-17 means there will be no direct trains to London from Manchester and Merseyside. "This leaves tens of thousands of fans from all over our region in an unfair position, as supporters' groups from both clubs have made clear today," Mayors Andy Burnham and Steve Rotheram said in a joint letter to the FA Chair Debbie Hewitt. "Without quick, direct trains, many people will be left with no option but to drive, fly, make overly complex rail journeys or book overnight accommodation. "We believe the most obvious solution is to move this game to a more accessible stadium and offer to work constructively with you to make that happen," added the letter sent on Tuesday.
The respective mayors of Liverpool and Manchester have called for the FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Manchester City to be moved from Wembley Stadium. The Premier League pair are due to play each other on either April 16 or 17, with those two dates landing between the April 15-18 period when engineering works will stop any train service between Manchester and London, and Liverpool and the capital.
