Alyssa Healy is likely to lead Australia in the tour of India in December after the star wicketkeeper-batter was named the vice-captain of the women's team on Thursday. Healy takes over from Rachael Haynes, who retired from international cricket last month. With World Cup-winning captain Meg Lanning still on her indefinite break, Healy could be donning the skipper's cap for the team's upcoming assignments that include five T20s in India before the home series against Pakistan and the T20 World Cup in South Africa next year.
Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur added another feather to her hat after she surpassed New Zealand all-rounder Suzie Bates to become the most capped Women's T20I player in the history of the game. The 33-year-old made her 137th appearance in the final of the Asia Cup against Sri Lanka at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh on Saturday. Harmanpreet played her 136th T20I against Thailand in the semi-finals of the Asia Cup to level the record with Bates. The New Zealander is now placed second on the list with 136 matches in T20Is. Bates has scored 3613 runs with a century to her name.

India's Jemimah Rodrigues missed out as Australia's Tahlia McGrath and Zimbabwe's Sikandar Raza were on Monday voted as ICC Player of the Month for August following their outstanding international performances in their respective categories. Rodrigues was nominated for the award in the women's category, which also featured Commonwealth Games gold medal-winning Australian duo of Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath. However, McGrath became the latest Australian star to win the ICC Women's Player of the Month award after helping her country claim the Commonwealth gold in Birmingham.
Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry has extended her stay with Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) club Sydney Sixers and will represent the side in the eighth season of the competition. Perry is a foundation member of the Sixers, who has skippered the club in all editions of the world's premier women's domestic competition, including titles in WBBL 02 and WBBL 03. A product of NSW's pathways system, the 31-year-old now plays her state cricket for Victoria but said she had never considered playing for any other WBBL franchise.
