In the Carabao Cup Everton certainly enjoy being beside the sea: twice in two years in this competition they have departed the Lancashire coast with victory over Fleetwood Town.
After a wide-open first half that finished scoreless, Salomon Rondon almost put the home side in front early in the second with a quick turn and shot, but the ball flew just wide at the foot of the left-hand post. Forest gave a debut to club record signing Morgan Gibbs-White a day after he arrived from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a five-year deal and he led a lively raid down the left that almost resulted in a goal for Neco Williams.
LIVERPOOL, England :Winger Demarai Gray fired a late equaliser to give Everton a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park on Saturday as they picked up their first point of the new Premier League season following a rocky start.
The raucous away section was in the midst of telling Frank Lampard he was getting sacked in the morning when Demarai Gray, another target for the Nottingham Forest faithful on account of his Leicester connections, rescued Everton’s first point of the season two minutes from time. The draw was merited, but of little consolation to the Everton manager or his opposite number, Steve Cooper.
Alex Iwobi once again showed his value to Frank Lampard as he battled hard against Aston Villa.
Until recently, Alex Iwobi never knew where he truly belonged at Everton.
Everton return to action today as they travel to face Aston Villa in their first Premier League away game of the season.
