CAPE TOWN : South Africa handed an opportunity for test debuts to five uncapped players who were named on Friday for the two-test series in Zimbabwe later this month.
AHMEDABAD: Mitchell Marsh struck his first Indian Premier League century as Lucknow Super Giants pulled off an upset 33-run win against table-toppers Gujarat Titans on Thursday.
Rishabh Pant played a solid cameo as Lucknow Super Giants notched 235/2 against Gujarat Titans in an IPL 2025 match on Thursday. Under fire for a poor run of form, Pant came in to bat 19th over. Even then, he made an impact. On the first ball of the 20th over, he hit Kagiso Rabada for a six. Then on the fifth ball of the last over, he hit a no-look six. The video of the shot has gone viral.
Rishabh Pant's IPL 2025 campaign has been forgettable to say the least. He was picked at the IPL 2025 auction by the Sanjiv Goenka-owned Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore - the highest any franchise has paid for a player in the tournament's history. But the star wicketkeeper-batter had his poorest IPL ever as he scored just 135 in 12 matches with an average of 12.27. LSG even failed to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) spinner Digvesh Rathi, known for his flamboyant "notebook" wicket celebration, found himself at the center of social media mockery after LSG's elimination from the IPL 2025 playoffs. In a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Australian YouTuber Jake Jeakings, resembling England's Sam Curran, mimicked Rathi's signature celebration from the stands, adding to the spinner's troubles. This incident followed a heated on-field exchange between Rathi and SRH's Abhishek Sharma, further intensifying the spotlight on Rathi's conduct.
Sunrisers Hyderabad showed their batting prowess and became a party spoiler for Lucknow Super Giants as they defeated Rishabh Pant and co in their must-win IPL 2025 match on Monday. Asked to bat first, LSG posted a good total of 205/7 in 20 overs with Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram hitting half-centuries. Later, SRH did not face any hiccups in the chase as Abhishek Sharma slammed 59 runs off 20 balls and helped his side cross the line with 10 balls to spare.
Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjiv Goenka had big expectations from his franchise, especially after he managed to bring a marquee player like Rishabh Pant to the team. LSG had a headline-making mega auction last year that saw them rope in the wicket-keeper batter for a record-breaking fee of INR 27 crore. Despite possessing a batting unit comprising of top players like Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant, David Miller, etc. the franchise couldn't finish in the last four.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant was involved in an animated chat with the on-field umpire during his side's crucial IPL 2025 match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday. The incident happened in the third over of SRH's chase after LSG players had appeal for a caught behind against Ishan Kishan. Despite the ball passing very close to the bat, the umpire didn't raise his finger. However, there was a moment of confusion whether Pant took a DRS for caught behind or the batter took a review for a wide that was not given by the umpire.
