CAPE TOWN :South Africa have included Kagiso Rabada in their squad for the World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord's from June 11-15 following the fast bowler's return from a suspension having tested positive for a banned substance.
If there was one player who was considered worthy of bettering Sachin Tendulkar's record of 100 international hundreds, it was Virat Kohli. When Tendulkar was asked in an award ceremony after hitting his 100th century on who could break his record, he took two names: Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Within a week, both Rohit and Virat retired from the Test format. Kohli, who quit the Test arena on Monday, is still 18 hundreds away from equalling the incredible milestone and now has just one format to play, maybe for a maximum of two years. England have slipped to eighth place in the ICC Men's ODI rankings following the annual update last week, raising concerns about their direct qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup, as per Wisden. The rankings update with each match and series played, but annual update reduces the impact of matches older than a year and completely removes results from over three years ago. As a result, England, despite climbing to No. 2 in the Test rankings, dropped to eighth in ODIs. Between May 4, 2024 and May 4, 2025, they managed just three wins in 14 ODIs, giving them a win/loss ratio of 0.272 -- better only than Nepal and Bangladesh in that period.
The BCCI is contemplating to host the World Test Championship (WTC) final of the 2025-2027 cycle in India, and a proposal in this regard will be formalised at a later date. England has hosted both the WTC title clashes till now in 2021 and 2023 at Hampshire and at the Oval respectively. The PTI has learned that discussions in this regard was held during the ICC's chief executives committee in Zimbabwe last month, where the BCCI was represented by IPL chairman Arun Dhumal. Jay Shah, the former BCCI secretary, is the current ICC Chairman after taking over from Greg Barclay in December 2024.
Shukri Conrad has been appointed as South Africa men's all-format head coach, said Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Friday. Conrad, who was the side's red-ball coach from January 2023, takes over the white-ball responsibilities after Rob Walter resigned from the role. CSA added that Conrad will be in charge till the 2027 Men's ODI World Cup, which will be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. His next assignment will be the ICC World Test Championship Final against Australia, taking place from June 11-15 at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London.

Miraz gained one place to move to second overall on the latest rankings for Test all-rounders on the back of his heroics for Bangladesh in their recent Test series against Zimbabwe, with Jadeja's lead at the top now under 100 rating points. The in-form Miraz scored 116 runs and claimed 15 wickets across the two Tests and was rewarded on the updated ICC Men's Test Player Rankings by improving to a new career-best rating of 327 points and within 73 rating points of No. 1-ranked Jadeja.
