India's Kidambi Srikanth progressed to the men's singles second round with a comfortable straight-game win over Vietnam's Phat Le Duc in the badminton competition of the Asian Games on Monday. Srikanth, a 2021 world championships silver medallist, outclassed Le Duc 21-10 21-10 in 29 minutes to set up a clash with Korea's Lee Yun Gyu. Four Indian archers Aditi Swami, Jyothi Vennam, Ojas Deotale and Abhishek Verma are through to compound quarterfinals after they won in the first two rounds at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou on Monday. World No. 7 Prannoy, who missed the team championships final due to a back injury will hope to recover in time as he is pitted against Batdavaa Munkhbat of Mongolia in the second round, while Kidambi Srikanth, a former world No. 1, will face Le Duc Phat of Vietnam in the opening round.
