Asian Games 2023, Wushu: Roshibana Devi Moves To Final, Assured Of Silver

Roshibana Devi lived up to the expectations of the Indian fans as she stormed into the Wushu 60kg finals and ensured another medal for India on Wednesday in the ongoing Asian Games. While facing a tough challenge in the form of Vietnam's Thi Thu Nguyen, Roshibana emerged victorious with a final scoreline of 2-0 in favour of the Indian. Roshibana will face now China's Wu Xiaowei in the final on Thursday. Hailing from Manipur, Roshibina has impressed with her performances. She stormed into the semi-final in the women's 60 Kg category on Monday, assuring the country of at least a bronze.

Roshibina Devi Dedicates Asian Games 2023 Medal To Arunachal Players Who Couldn't Compete

The highly-talented Roshibina Devi knocked out Vietnam's Thi Thu Nguyen on Wednesday to enter the 60 kg final of the Wushu competition here on Wednesday, ensuring India at least silver medal in the Asian Games. Roshibina never gave a chance to her rival, winning the bout 2-0. She will now face China's Wu Xiaowei in the gold medal match on Thursday. In fact, this is a historic feat for Roshibina as she is only the second Indian to reach a wushu event final after Sandhyarani Devi, who managed the feat during the 2010 Games at Guangzhou. However, Roshibina had won a bronze medal in the same weight category during the Jakarta Asian Games in 2018.

Third-seeded Indian Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi went down to top-ranked Chinese player Wei Yi in the seventh round of the men's individual chess event in the 19th Asian Games on Tuesday. Despite the defeat, the 28-year old Indian is in joint second place with 5 points from 7 rounds, half-a-point behind Yi. Uzbekistan's Nodirbek Abdusattorov is sharing the second place with Gujrathi. Arjun Erigaisi, the other Indian in the fray, beat Indonesia's Novendra Priasmoro in the seventh round to reach 4.5 points. He shares the joint third spot with three other players.

With 876 points, the Indian trio of Esha Singh, Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan finished on top in the 25m Pistol women's team qualification on Tuesday at the Asian Games. China and Chinese Taipei are in second and third positions respectively. Bhaker is at the top of the table with 294 points ahead of China's Sixuan Feng in the women's 25m Pistol qualification in the precision round. Esha finished third with 292 while Sangwan finished at 11th with 290. The trio's combined score has put India on top of the team event with 876 points. China is close behind with 874 points.
