LONDON : Tunisian Ons Jabeur gained revenge for her defeat in last year's final when she surged back from a set down to beat third-seeded defending champion Kazakh Elena Rybakina 6-7(5) 6-4 6-1 to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals on Wednesday.
Ons Jabeur fought back from a set down to beat defending Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina in a three-set thriller on centre court. The Tunisian lost last year's Wimbledon final at the hands of Rybakina, but remains on course for a maiden title at SW19 after avenging that defeat in a brilliant contest. Aryna Sabalenka powered into a second Wimbledon semi-final on Wednesday with a straight-sets win over Madison Keys of the United States. World number two Sabalenka from Belarus, a semi-finalist in 2021, came through 6-2, 6-4 and will face either defending champion Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan or Tunisia's Ons Jabeur for a place in Saturday's final. Along with all Russian and Belarusian players, Sabalenka was banned from the 2022 tournament following the invasion of Ukraine.
