Mikael Ymer was disqualified from the Lyon Open for furiously smashing his racquet on the umpire’s chair. The Swedish player was playing against Arthur Fils in the round of 16 when he got into a heated altercation with umpire Rogerio Santos over a line call at 5-5 in the opening set. Ad Ymer was adamant Fils’ shot was wide of the sideline before he casually returned long beyond the baseline, and was in disbelief when the Frenchman was awarded the point.

The 19-year-old is still technically a junior player but was called up to represent England at senior level for the first time earlier this year at the European Team Championship Qualifications in Croatia.
