BCCI released the full list of players set to go under the hammer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction scheduled to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. All the 10 IPL franchises - Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Team Ahmedabad will look to build a solid team with some of the biggest national and international stars of the game. Out of the 590 players, 370 Indian players and 220 overseas players will up for auction. 33 players were retained by the 10 IPL franchises.

West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews has progressed four places to 11th position in the ICC Women's ODI Player Rankings after a fine show in the first two matches of their four match-series against South Africa. Matthews, who grabbed two wickets each in both matches, is the highest-ranked bowler from the West Indies with other off-spinner Anisa Mohammed in 25th place and Shakera Selman 26th. Seam bowler Shamilia Connell has moved up nine slots to 29th after taking three wickets in the two matches. South Africa captain Sune Luus has advanced seven places to joint-34th among bowlers and is up two places to 44th in the batting list, which is now led by Alyssa Healy with Mithali Raj in second place after Lizelle Lee dropped two places to third. Lee, ICC's Women's ODI Player of the Year in 2021, is out of the series due to COVID-19.

Cricket will mark its return to the Commonwealth Games after a gap of 24 years with India taking on Australia on July 29 in the 2022 Birmingham edition. The league-cum-knockout women's tournament kicks off with a match between women's 2020 T20 World Cup finalists Australia and India on July 29, with the bronze and gold medal matches scheduled for August 7. Cricket is the first discipline to announce its complete line-up for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games after Sri Lanka was confirmed as the eighth team in the women's T20 tournament, the ICC said on Tuesday.

During the ninth over of Sri Lanka's innings, Sakuna Liyanage received a short delivery from Matthew Boast which he outside edged to second slip where a jumping Simelane saw the ball bounce on his palm and then he dived backwards to catch it at the rebound. The ICC posted a video of the highlight on Instagram and also captioned it as, "Andile Simelane - catch of the tournament?"

The England U19 team will take on Afghanistan U19 in the first semi-final of the ongoing U19 World Cup at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound in Antigua. England defeated Bangladesh, Canada, UAE and South Africa on their journey to the semis while Afghanistan went past Papua New Guinea, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka to qualify for the last-four stage. Afghanistan recovered well after suffering a 24-run loss in their second match against Pakistan and showcased immense composure in the next games.
