Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid met at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on the eve of India vs West Indies 1st T20I. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter to share a photograph of Ganguly, the BCCI president and Dravid, the current Team India head coach, on Tuesday. "When two legends of Indian Cricket met at the Eden Gardens," BCCI wrote in the caption. Ganguly and Dravid go back a long way. From competing against each other in junior cricket to making their Test debuts in the same Test match and then playing under each other's captaincy for India, Ganguly and Dravid have been part of some of the most memorable moments in Indian cricket.
Virat Kohli is on the cusp of breaking yet another massive record with Team India all set to take on the West Indies in the first T20I of the three-match series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday. He is just 73 runs away from becoming the highest run-getter in men's T20 internationals. With 3,227 runs to his name so far in the shortest format, Kohli will look to overtake New Zealand batter Martin Guptill, who has amassed 3,299 runs so far.
India on Tuesday revised the schedule for the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka, bringing the Twenty20 internationals forward to precede the two Tests, the country's cricket board said.
BCCI on Tuesday announced a revised itinerary for the home series against Sri Lanka, beginning February 24, confirming that the Twenty20 series will be played before the two Tests. Originally, the two-Test series was planned before the T20s but the BCCI has made the change following a request from Sri Lanka Cricket. "Sri Lanka will first play the T20I series comprising three matches followed by a two-match Test series, which will be a part of the ICC World Test Championship, 2021-23," said the BCCI in a statement.
Harshal Patel said bowling in the death overs for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 changed his career. Harshal was a part of the Delhi Capitals squad in IPL 2020 but was traded to RCB ahead of the 2021 season.
Flush with exciting talent and focussed on the T20 World Cup in exactly eight months' time, the Rohit Sharma-led Team India would be aiming to get its combinations right when it takes on the West Indies in a three-match series beginning in Kolkata on Wednesday. India were the pre-tournament favourites but made a shocking group stage exit in the last T20 World Cup held in the UAE in October-November. The shambolic campaign exposed loopholes in the team combination and temperament, spoiling Virat Kohli's swansong as T20 skipper.
Glenn Maxwell slammed 39 off 25 balls as a dominant Australia thumped Sri Lanka by six wickets to win their third straight Twenty20 clash and seal the series in Canberra on Tuesday. The world champions have an unassailable 3-0 lead with two games to play after taking the opening match by 20 runs then clinching the second in a thrilling super over finish after it ended in a tie. They made a slow start chasing 122 to win at Manuka Oval, losing two early wickets before skipper Aaron Finch (35) and the big-hitting Maxwell steadied the ship.
