Indian Women's Cricket Arrives In Sri Lanka For Limited-Overs Series

The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women's cricket team arrived in Sri Lanka on Sunday for its limited-over tour of Sri Lanka, beginning on June 23. Without senior players like Mithali Raj, who has announced her retirement, and veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami, a young Indian team will play three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals at Pallekele and Dambulla respectively.

The Sri Lanka tour will be the first series for the India women's team in the post-Mithali Raj era, as the country's long-time captain recently announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket. "India Women's Team led by Harmanpreet Kaur arrives in Sri Lanka. India and Sri Lanka will play three T20Is in Dambulla on June 23, 25 and 27 followed by as many ODIs on July 1, 4 and 7," tweeted Sri Lanka Cricket.

It is a dawn of a new era for the Indian women's cricket team after Mithali Raj bid adieu to international cricket last week. Harmanpreet Kaur has ample experience in leading in the T20Is and hence she has been appointed as the ODI captain as well. Her first assignment would be the upcoming limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, beginning June 23. On the tour, India will play three T20Is and three ODIs. The T20Is will be played in Dambulla while the ODIs will go ahead in Pallekele.

For Two Tests In A Row, Bangladesh Equal Unwanted Record

Bangladesh were bowled out for just 103 in the first innings of the first Test against West Indies in North Sound Antigua on Thursday. In the process they equalled a most unwanted record as six batters failed to get off the mark. The six ducks is the joint highest number of ducks in an innings in Test cricket. Co-incidentally, the last time a team got six ducks in an innings was Bangladesh in their last Test match, which was against Sri Lanka. In that game too, the six ducks came in Bangladesh's first innings.
