Australia's Kane Richardson Out Of Sri Lanka Series With Injury
Australia suffered another injury setback on Monday as fast bowler Kane Richardson returned home with a hamstring problem ahead of the first one-day international against hosts Sri Lanka. Test skipper Pat Cummins will however return to the side for the five-match ODI series beginning on Tuesday after recovering from a long-running injury.

Australia fast bowler Kane Richardson has been ruled out of the five-match 50-overs series in Sri Lanka in the latest injury setback to the touring side.

Travis Head must bide his time before he can cement his place in Australia's one-day squad, coach Andrew McDonald said ahead of their five-match series against Sri Lanka beginning on Tuesday. With David Warner skipping the one-day series in Pakistan earlier this year, Head partnered skipper Aaron Finch at the top order and was their second highest run-scorer with a century and a fifty in three innings. The left-hander smashed a breezy hundred for Australia A in Sri Lanka but McDonald said Warner's return meant Head must wait for his turn which may come in the later stage of the ODI series.

With the series already bag, Australia went into the final Twenty20 International (T20I) looking to register a whitewash over Sri Lanka in their own backyard. And for nearly three quarters of the match, Australia were in prime position to clean sweep the series. However, Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka changed the script and how, bringing Sri Lanka back from the dead to pull off a thrilling win over the visiting Australians. Few would have given Sri Lanka even a hope of winning when they were left needing 59 runs off the final three overs. But Shanaka launched a stunning assault on the Australian bowlers to take his side home with a ball to spare.
