The ICC Champions Trophy, to be held in Pakistan next year, has entered a familiar phase where the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly refused to travel to the country for the tournament. In their scheduled draft, Pakistan had kept Lahore as the only venue for the Indian team, hoping to quash security fears and get the Indian board's nod for the tournament. But that doesn't seem to be the case as the BCCI said to have shared the likes of Dubai and Sri Lanka as venues for their matches in a hybrid model.

Former Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya has been named the interim head coach of the island nation's cricket team ahead of its white-ball home series against India beginning later this month. The Indian team will be touring Sri Lanka for three T20 Internationals and as many ODIs, starting July 27. The 55-year-old Jayasuriya, a swashbuckling opener in his prime, was named for the interim post after Englishman Chris Silverwood resigned last week as Sri Lanka head coach. Silverwood stepped down in the wake of the country's disastrous T20 World Cup campaign, during which it was ousted from the league stage itself.

Wanindu Hasaranga Steps Down As Sri Lanka T20 Captain Ahead Of India Series

Wanindu Hasaranga on Thursday stepped down as the Sri Lanka captain in T20 Internationals ahead of their upcoming three-match series against India. India will tour Sri Lanka for a limited-overs series which begins with the three T20Is to be played on July 26, 27 and 29 at the Pallekele International Stadium, followed by three ODIs in Colombo. “Sri Lanka Cricket wishes to inform the public that National Men's 20I Captain Wanindu Hasaranga has decided to resign from the captaincy,” a release from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said.

Maldives Tourism Invites Team India To Celebrate Its T20 World Cup Triumph

The recently-crowned T20 world champion Indian cricket team has been invited to celebrate its triumph in Maldives by the country's tourism association and its marketing and public relations corporation. The Rohit Sharma-led Indian team won the trophy in Barbados after beating South Africa by seven runs in the final on June 29. "Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) in collaboration with the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) have jointly extended a special and open invitation to the Indian National Cricket Team," the two bodies said in a joint statement.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has slotted its team's marquee Champions Trophy match against arch-rivals India in Lahore on March 1 next year but the BCCI is yet to give its consent to the tentative schedule, a senior ICC Board member told PTI on Wednesday. The tournament is slated from February 19 to March 9 with March 10 as Reserve Day. It is understood PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who was invited to watch the T20 World Cup final in Barbados, submitted a 15-match schedule with all of India's games kept in Lahore for security and logistical reasons.

Saika Ishaque In Reserves As India Announce Squad For Women's Asia Cup T20 In Sri Lanka

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead a 15-member Indian Women's team to Sri Lanka for the upcoming 2024 Women's Asia Cup T20, which is set to take place in Dambulla, from July 19. The in-form Smriti Mandhana, who top-scored for India in the three-match ODI series, will continue to be the vice-captain of the squad. The one major surprise in the squad is the inclusion of Saika Ishaque among the travelling reserves. Meghna Singh was also included in the reserves for the tournament all matches of which will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla.
