South Africa to a convincing four-wicket win over India in the second T20I, wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen was pleased with his match-winning knock and hoped that it will help him to prolong his career. A disciplined bowling performance followed by Klaasen's brilliant knock (81 off 46) led South Africa to a four-wicket win over India in the second T20I and helped them take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series at the Barabati Stadium on Sunday. "I am glad the knock came against India. I hope it extends my career longer. I haven't performed well in the last couple of years. I am very happy and confident to be here," said Klassen at the post-match presentation.
Heinrich Klaasen smashed 81 off 46 balls to lead South Africa's tricky chase as they beat India by four wickets in the second Twenty20 international on Sunday. Needing 149 for victory on a hot and humid day in Cuttack, South Africa rode Klaasen's fourth T20 half-century to achieve their target in 18.2 overs and lead the five-match series 2-0. South Africa's bowlers, led by pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada, set up victory after they kept India to 148-6 after deciding to field first.
Quinton de Kock's hand injury on the eve of the match ruled him out of the second T20 International at Barabati Stadium here on Sunday. And the man replacing him in the XI, Heinrich Klaasen, proved to be the class act on a two-paced wicket. The wicketkeeper-batter superbly paced his innings to score 81 off 46 balls that helped South Africa chase the target of 149 with ease and go 2-0 up in the five-match series.
Rishabh Pant made no bones about the uninspiring performance of the two leading spinners Axar patel and Yuzvendra Chahal, urging them to come good after another meek surrender at the hands of South Africa in the second T20 international here on Sunday. While Axar could be given only one over in which he conceded 19 runs, Chahal was equally bad as he was smashed for 49 runs in four overs. In the two games, Axar has given away 59 runs in five overs while Chahal has gone for 75 in six overs. "The spinners have (need) to come (perform) better into the game," Pant said at the post-match presentation ceremony without elaborating much.
