"A Big Name, But If I Go Into Stats...": Former Pakistan Cricketer's Criticism Of MS Dhoni's Wicketkeeping

Ex-Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has taken a dig at former India skipper MS Dhoni over the latter's wicketkeeping skills. Latif, who himself was a wicketkeeper-batter during his playing days, used stats to put forward his views. He said that Dhoni dropped around 21 per cent of his catches which is a "huge" number. It is worth noting that Dhoni registered 256 catches and 38 stumpings in Test cricket, 321 catches and 123 stumpings in ODIs and 57 catches and 34 stumpings in T20Is. However, Rashid feels that one should also pay attention to the number of chances missed by a wicketkeeper.

Watch: Sam Billings Takes A Stunner To Dismiss Dean Elgar During England A vs South Africa Practice Match

Sam Billings took a stunning catch on Tuesday during England A's ongoing practice match against South Africa at St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury. On the first day of the four-day contest, England pacer Craig Overton bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to South Africa skipper Dean Elgar and the latter edged it while trying to play his shot on the front foot. The ball flew between wicketkeeper Billings and the first slip, and was dying down before the former put a quick dive to his left and grabbed it before it touched the ground.

Tributes for South African umpire Rudi Koertzen after he dies in car accident

Koertzen, 73, was known as 'Slow Death' because of the time it took for him to raise a finger to indicate a batsman's dismissal. He stood in a then-record 331 international matches, including 108 Tests, between 1992 and his retirement in 2010. Pakistan umpire Aleem Dar, who has since surpassed Koertzen's record, described Koertzen's death as "a very big loss". "I stood in so many games with him," said Dar.
