Big bucks Iyer leads Punjab Kings to win over Gujarat Titans in IPL

AHMEDABAD: India batsman Shreyas Iyer led from the front with an unbeaten 97 to set up a 11-run win for Punjab Kings in a big-hitting IPL clash with Gujarat Titans on Tuesday. Iyer’s 42-ball knock steered the team to 243-5 after being invited to bat first at the world’s biggest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat finished on 232-5 despite a valiant 41-ball 74 by opener Sai Sudharsan who set up a blazing start to the run chase, featuring a 84-run second wicket stand with England’s Jos Buttler (54). Both sides walloped 16 sixes each across the two innings on the fourth day of the cash-rich Indian Premier League T20 tournament. Iyer, who led Kolkata Knight Riders to a title win last year, has already gone some way to justifying his top price tag, after Punjab paid a whopping 3.17 million dollars in the November auction. The top-order batter started with a boundary off Gujarat’s South African import Kagiso Rabada and three balls later smashed a six. He allowed attacking opener Priyansh Arya to take charge as the Indian young left-hander hammered 47 off 23 deliveries before being denied his fifty by Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan. Gujarat’s Sai Kishore joined the bowling charge to strike twice in two balls, including trapping Australia’s Glenn Maxwell lbw for a first-ball duck, but Marcus Stoinis avoided the hat-trick. Maxwell walked back without a review but tracking technology later revealed the ball would have gone over the stumps as a dejected Punjab coach Ricky Ponting looked upset. Iyer stood strong as he took on the attack with sixes and fours and found support from Australian hard-hitter Stoinis, who smashed a 15-ball 20 before becoming Kishore’s third wicket. Iyer reached his fifty in 27 balls and kept up the

Fit-Again Pacer Avesh Khan Set To Join Lucknow Super Giants Squad: Report

In a boost for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), pacer Avesh Khan has been cleared by the BCCI to participate in IPL 2025. Avesh, who had been nursing a right knee issue, received medical clearance from the BCCI's medical team this week and will soon join the LSG squad, ESPNcricinfo reported on Tuesday. Avesh has been out of action since late January, with his last India appearance dating back to a T20I in South Africa last November. He also missed Madhya Pradesh's final league game in the Ranji Trophy due to discomfort in his right knee, which was linked to his domestic workload.

'More Masala Tea...': Faf Du Plessis' Cheeky Take On Ashutosh Sharma's Sensational Knock vs LSG

Following the thrilling one-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Delhi Capitals vice-captain Faf Du Plessis expressed his take on much-debated Impact Player rule and how the finish reminded of him of a classic South Africa versus Australia clash back in 2006. Ashutosh Sharma pulled a heist for ages, coming in at 65/5 while chasing 210 and producing a memorable partnership with Vipraj Nigam to help DC make a highly unlikely comeback and secure the game by one wicket at Vizag on Monday. The uncapped batter displayed brilliant hitting ability and extreme calm in a situation that could have left even some of the top talents struggling for runs and belief.

LSG Coach Disagrees With Rishabh Pant Over Delhi Capitals Loss: "Didn't Score Enough..."

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) assistant coach Lance Klusener blamed the team's batters, following a one wicket loss to Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 on Monday. According to Klusener, the batters didn't put enough runs on the board, saying that they were 20 or 30 runs short. His remarks came after LSG captain Rishabh Pant felt his side had enough runs on the board in Visakhapatnam. "I think our top-order batters played really well and I think it was a pretty good score on this wicket," Pant said during the post-match presentation ceremony.
