Se habló de Qatar y también se valoró un doblete en Singapur que ocupase el vacío de la pista de Adler, pero finalmente se ha optado por no sustituir la carrera que se pierde porque los costes logísticos para sostener un triplete transoceánico (a Rusia le seguían Singapur y Japón en el calendario original) así lo han aconsejado. No han faltado candidatos, pero se ha optado por descongestionar las fechas.
