Papua New Guinea Seals ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Berth

Papua New Guinea has become the latest team to qualify for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, set to be held in the West Indies and the USA. It is the 15th side to have qualified for the event and the only team from the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier. PNG managed to get the job done following their massive 100-run win over the Philippines at Amini Park on Friday. After being asked to bat first, PNG posted a mammoth total of 229/6, thanks to some elegant knocks from Tony Ura, skipper Assad Vala and Charles Amini, scoring 61, 59 and 53, respectively.

Watch: Mankad Dismissal During U-19 WC Qualifier Match Divides Internet

Running out a player at the non-striker's end by the bowler before the ball is delivered has always been a huge topic of debate. This kind of dismissal often questions the rules of the gentleman's game. On many occasions, many former cricketers and experts gave their opinion regarding this controversial method of dismissal, which is popularly known as, 'Mankad'. Recently during the U-19 World Cup qualifier match between Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, a player was dismissed at the non-strikers end and it grabbed a lot of attention.

Stage set for most evenly poised State of Origin series in recent memory

M ost Australian rules fans have forgotten (or chosen to forget) that they owned the State of Origin concept for a century before the big boppers in the north caught on. Since the VFL/AFL abandoned their interstate carnivals in 1993 and ceased all state-based clashes in 1999, rugby league’s State of Origin has become “Australian sport’s greatest rivalry” – the purest expression of mate v mate and state v state. It started as an experiment – Australia’s then-captain Bob Fulton predicted “the non-event of the century” – but 43 years on Origin has become the very essence of rugby league.

Video - 46 Runs In One Over: Unthinkable Happens In T20 Franchise League In Kuwait

What's the maximum that one can score in one over? The record in ODIs is 36 runs - which has been achieved twice  - once by South Africa's Herschelle Gibbs against the Netherlands in 2006 and the other time by USA's Jaskaran Malhotra against Papua New Guinea in 2021. In Tests, India's Jasprit Bumrah holds the record for most runs in an over as he tallied 35 in one over against England in 2022. In T20Is too, 36 runs is the maximum that has been scored in an over. It has happened twice - Yuvraj Singh against England in 2007 and Kieron Pollard against Sri Lanka in 2021. But what if somebody were to say that 46 runs can be scored in one over? Would you believe that?
