Najam Sethi Casts Fresh Doubts Over Pakistan's Participation In World Cup In India

Pakistan Cricket Board's chairman Najam Sethi on Friday cast fresh doubts over their participation in the ODI World Cup in India, saying it is "subject to government approval", putting the ICC in a bind before the schedule for the mega event is finalised. Sethi's comments came after every stakeholder, including Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief Jay Shah, agreed to organise the upcoming Asia Cup in a hybrid model, as proposed by the PCB chief. "As far as India and Pakistan go, neither the PCB or the BCCI can take decisions. The respective governments only can take decisions," Sethi said during a press conference.

Bairstow celebrates 'good day' as England declare on 398-8 against Australia in first Ashes Test

England declared on 398-8 and left Australia 14 without loss after a promising start to the Ashes in Edgbaston. Former captain Joe Root was the star of the home side’s innings as he arrived with England at 176-5 and in trouble, to bat through until current skipper Ben Stokes’ declaration — the earliest in the series’ history. Ad Root hit a century of 121 alongside Jonny Bairstow, who plundered his total at a run a ball, and there were useful efforts from the recalled, Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad and Ollie Robinson.

"Like Pizza Without Topping...": Former India Star's Witty Take On Pakistan's Asia Cup Participation

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) accepted Pakistan's hybrid model for the Asia Cup, and announced on Thursday that the tournament will be held from August 31 to September 17. With India adamant on not travelling to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was not willing to move the entire tournament out of the country. After months of logjam, the release from the ACC confirmed that the tournament will be held in a hybrid model where Pakistan will host four matches while the remaining nine matches will take place in Sri Lanka.
