"Team Is Hungry...": Pakistan Captain Babar Azam Declares Ahead Of Asia Cup

Exuding confidence, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam on Monday said the team's players are driven by a strong "hunger" for success as they set their sights on clinching the coveted Asia Cup and World Cup titles. Fresh from their 4-1 home series win over New Zealand, Pakistan are currently in pursuit of the top spot in ODI rankings. They may very well dethrone Australia as the world's No 1 side with a 3-0 whitewash over Afghanistan in their Asia Cup build-up series beginning in Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

No Further Change In World Cup Schedule Possible, BCCI Tells Hyderabad Cricket Association: Report

The Indian cricket board on Monday officially turned down the request of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) to change the ICC World Cup 2023 schedule. The HCA had appealed to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a change in schedule after the local police authorities expressed their reservations about deploying adequate personnel on back-to-back match days. "BCCI secretary Jay Shah held a meeting with HCA officials in Delhi after the Asia Cup team selection meeting (for which the secretary is convenor) and the state unit was categorically told that no changes would be entertained after a revised schedule was issued on August 9," a BCCI source informed.

Watch: "Pagalpanti Nahi" - Rohit Sharma Pulls Batting Order Query Out Of The Park

The Indian cricket team squad for Asia Cup 2023 was announced on Monday and during the press conference following the reveal, skipper Rohit Sharma faced a lot of questions regarding the possible team combinations and how the batting order can look against Pakistan in the first match of the competition. However, the veteran batter was completely unfazed by the queries and he came up with a straight yet hilarious answer. He explained that most slots in the batting order are already decided with No. 4 and 5 being the slots where some flexibility is possible. He further explained that youngsters will be shuffled in different positions and joked that the team will not indulge in 'madness' like "sending a opener to bat at No 8".
