The former Pakistan skipper Saeed Ahmed passed away on Wednesday at the age of 86 in Lahore after suffering from a brief illness, according to the ICC. Saeed took part in 41 Test matches for Pakistan between 1958 and 1973, scoring 2991 runs at an average of 40.41. The all-rounder scored slammed five centuries throughout his career, out of which three tons came against India. He played his maiden match for Pakistan at the age of 20 against the West Indies. During the innings, Ahmed stitched a 154-run stand with Hanif Mohammad for the third wicket, scoring a half-century (65) on his debut.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 concluded with Islamabad United taking home the title for the 'record' third time in the league's history. The joyous moment for the franchise came just a day after Royal Challengers Bangalore won the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 title, for the first time in their history. Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi says he is not even considering the possibility of next year's Champions Trophy being moved out of his country despite the never-ending speculation surrounding India's participation in the event. Addressing a media conference here on Monday night during the Pakistan Super League final, Naqvi confirmed that he held talks with BCCI secretary Jay Shah on the sidelines of the ICC meetings last week in Dubai. "Yes we spoke for a while and it was cordial but it would be unwise to divulge details of what was discussed," he said.
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 final between Islamabad United and Multan Sultans was hit by a massive controversy as Imad Wasim was pictured smoking inside the dressing room at the National Stadium in Karachi. Wasim, who took a five-wicket haul for Islamabad United, was caught on camera smoking during the Multan Sultans innings and the video led to a lot of criticism from fans on social media. The controversy did not stop there as after Islamabad United clinched the trophy with a narrow win, Imad celebrated with a smoking gesture - leading to more conversations online.
There has been a lot of criticism regarding the low attendance during the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 and the situation was more or less the same during the final between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in Karachi on Monday. Several users took to social media to post pictures from the National Stadium in Karachi and they showed mostly empty stands. The users were not very happy with the lack of attendance and some of them even compared the tournament with the numbers seen in the Women's Premier League (WPL) in India. The WPL final saw an attendance of just over 29,000.
