New Head Coach Jason Gillespie Vows Consistency In Pakistan Test Side

Former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie Sunday vowed to make Pakistan a consistent side after taking charge as red-ball coach with a hectic six-month schedule in focus. The 49-year-old will start his two-year tenure with a two-match series against Bangladesh next month followed by three against England in October -- both at home. Pakistan will also tour South Africa for two Tests in December before hosting the West Indies in as many Tests in January next year. Gillespie, who arrived early Sunday, said Pakistan are a "talented" side but need consistency.

PCB Retain Muhammad Yusuf, Asad Shafiq In Revamped Selection Panel

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has retained former players Muhammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq in the revamped selection committee which will pick the teams for the home Test series against Bangladesh next month. Yousuf and Shafiq were members of the previous selection committee which picked the T20 World Cup squad. The PCB sacked members Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq after the team failed to go beyond the first round in the mega event but surprisingly has retained Yousuf and Shafiq.

PCB Yet To Issue NOCs To Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Says 'Not Comfortable'

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan and pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi are yet to get No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the nation's Cricket Board (PCB) to participate in the Global T20 Canada league. The PCB on Tuesday issued NOCs to 12 players for different leagues but the trio, who are in the top bracket of central contracts, is still waiting for clearance. "The PCB is not comfortable with the status of the Global League and has sought some information from the organisers and ICC, which is why the issuance of NOCs has been delayed," a PCB official said.

The T20 World Cup 2024 gala featuring the Indian team reached the doorsteps of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The Indian team, after landing in New Delhi around 6:00 AM freshened up at the ITC Maurya Hotel before taking the team bus to PM Modi's residence. The Rohit Sharma-led team had a brief dance performance at the hotel after embracing a grand welcome. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday announced a cash reward of Rs 11 crore for the Indian cricket team which won the T20 World Cup. The announcement was made in the central hall of the Vidhan Bhavan (state legislature complex) where four Mumbai players from the team -- captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dubey -- were felicitated. CM Shinde in his speech expressed his delight over the team's victory against arch-rivals Pakistan in the World Cup.
