"If You Want To Wake Virat Kohli Up, Tell Him...": Shoaib Akhtar's Sly Poke At India Star Amid Poor Run Of Form

India's star batter Virat Kohli is currently going through a lean patch. Runs are not coming from his bat and the player has been losing his wickets to harmless deliveries, more often than not. What has been causing concern for the batter for a long time now is the channel outside off stump. Kohli, somehow, finds a way to get himself out after edging the deliveries around the off stump. Owing to the weakness, Kohli suffered a lot during India's recently-concluded Test series against Australia Down Under. He scored only 190 runs across five games at an average of 23.75, despite scoring a century in first Test in Perth.

Watch: Bangladesh Pacer Does A Virat Kohli, Barges Shoulders With Pakistan Star In BPL

Less than a month ago, star India player Virat Kohli featured in headlines for a wrong reason. The cricket veteran got involved in a shoulder-barge with Australia teenager Sam Konstas during India's fourth Test in Melbourne in December 2024. Kohli was fined 20 per cent of his match fee by the International Cricket Council for the act. A similar incident took place during the Bangladesh Premier League 2024-25 on Sunday. It was Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who did a Kohli by barging shoulders with Pakistan's Mohammad Nawaz.

PCB Frustrated As English Cricketers Await ECB Decision On PSL Participation

English cricketers are seeking clarity from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) regarding the issuance of No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) after being picked to play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) during Monday's draft in Lahore. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Peshawar Zalmi), Sam Billings, and Tom Curran (both Lahore Qalandars) were among those signed in the draft, while James Vince (Karachi Kings), Chris Jordan, and David Willey (Multan Sultans) were already retained. The 2025 PSL has shifted to an April-May schedule, creating a direct conflict with the start of the English domestic season for the first time.

India's Champions Trophy Squad: Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul Axed; Sanju Samson Over Rishabh Pant In Side By Harbhajan

The Indian cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team remain the sides which are yet to announce their squads for the upcoming February 19-March 9 Champions Trophy. While there was anticipation that the BCCI would name the squad by January 12, it is now expected that the squad would be announced by January 19. Picking a 15-member squad means that many players would miss out. In former India spinner Harbhajan Singh's 15-member side Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul find no mention. He also thinks Sanju Samson may be preferred over Rishabh Pant.

U-19 cricket team faces Pakistan in W/Cup warm-up

3 After months of preparation, the Nigerian U-19 Women Cricket Team, Junior Yellow Greens, will face their last acid test on January 18, before the World Cup begins in Sarakawa, Malaysia.   The final warm-up match will take place today against Pakistan at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi at 3:30 p.m. local time. Nigeria is making her debut at the Cricket U-19 World Cup for Women as the sole qualifier from the African qualifying series in Kigali in October 2024, edging highly rated Zimbabwe, Uganda among others to pick the spot.   Captain of the Nigerian side Lucky Piety, will lead her team to face the eighth-ranked team in the world on the T20 log, where they are ranked 26th.  The president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Uyi Akpata, said this event is a milestone for the country’s Cricket, and he believes the girls will not make light work of the moments that the World Cup presents.   “The girls have been at different camp sessions since they qualified in October, and they concluded one last weekend in India before heading finally to Malaysia. I believe these exposures will come together to enhance their performance.” he stated.   Uyi said he and the board of the Nigeria Cricket Federation are pleased with the support and encouragement that the leadership of the Nigeria Sports Commission has extended to the Federation and the team flying the country’s flag.
