"Great Effort To Get Ahead Of Strong Teams In World": Jonty Rhodes On South Africa Reaching Maiden WTC Final

Former South African Cricketer, Jonty Rhodes on Friday shared his thoughts as his national team reached the World Test Championship for the first time since the start of this tournament. South Africa secured their place in the one-off final with a commanding performance in the first Test against Pakistan in Centurion. This victory marked the culmination of a successful campaign in the 2023-25 WTC cycle, during which the Proteas won eight out of 12 Tests. Their dominant 10-wicket triumph over Pakistan in the final Test of the series sealed a 2-0 victory and confirmed their top position on the nine-team points table.

Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma In ICC Women's ODI Team Of The Year, No Indian In Men's Side

Star batter Smriti Mandhana and all-rounder Deepti Sharma were on Friday named in the ICC women's ODI Team of the Year 2024 but none of their male counterparts found a place in the men's side that was dominated by Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The women's all-star team has three players from England, two Australians, two South Africans and one each from Sri Lanka and West Indies, besides the two Indians. The 28-year-old Mandhana accumulated 747 runs in 13 matches to be the highest run-scorer in women's ODIs in 2024. She is also in the running for the ICC Women's ODI Cricketer of the Year 2024 award.

ICC Announces ODI Team Of The Year. No Indian Player Finds Spot

India's lack of international commitments in the 50-over format in 2024 had a bearing on the ICC men's ODI Team of the Year with not a single cricketer from the country making it to the list released on Friday. The all-star team announced by the ICC features four players from Sri Lanka, three each from Pakistan and Afghanistan and one from the West Indies. India played only three ODIs -- an away series against Sri Lanka --, losing two of them while the third one ended in a tie.

"Pakistan Should Focus On...": Big Message Sent Amid Champions Trophy Jersey Row

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Rashid Latif has urged his team to focus on playing an attacking brand of cricket in next month's ICC Champions Trophy. Pakistan are hosting their first ICC event after a gap of 28 years, the last being the 1996 World Cup. However, the eight-team competition will only see seven teams including Pakistan playing in the country as India to play all their matches in Dubai. Pakistan will enter the marquee tournament as defending champions having defeated India in the 2017 edition's final. Latif feels that the home side should focus on their preparations and not think about India not travelling to Pakistan for the tournament.

"Will Harm Jay Shah...": On Rohit Sharma, BCCI's 'Pakistan Stance' For Champions Trophy, Ex-Star's Warning

The Champions Trophy 2025 is less than a month away as top teams around the the world gear up for the marquee event. The tournament is being held following much dilly-dallying after the BCCI refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan, the designated hosts of the Champions Trophy 2025. Ultimately, a middle ground was reached wherein India will play its matches in Dubai, while Pakistan will play at neutral venues during any ICC event held in India in the next couple of years. Just when things look settled, another confusion rose with no clarity over whether Rohit Sharma would travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 opening ceremony and customary captain's meet.

Rohit Sharma's Terrible Run Continues On Domestic Cricket Return, Dismissed For...

Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma's disastrous form continued as he was dismissed for just 3 during the Ranji Trophy encounter between Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. Rohit, who played his first Ranji match since 2015, looked quite uncomfortable against the bouncers from the Jammu and Kashmir bowlers. Rohit scored just 3 runs off 19 deliveries before he was dismissed by fast bowler Umar Nazir Mir. It was a short of length delivery from Mir and Rohit completely miscued his shot.  Yudhvir Singh was placed perfectly to complete the catch as Rohit's innings came to an end.

"Pakistan Kya Darr Gaya?": PCB Blasted Over Continued Delay In Announcing Champions Trophy Squad

Well past the deadline set by the International Cricket Council, the Pakistan Cricket Board is yet to announce its squad for the Champions Trophy. The unreasonable delay in announcing squad for the marquee event has left many baffled, including former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali, who has repeatedly questioned the board's preparedness for the event. "Pakistan kya darr gaya jo abhi tak team announce nahi ki? Nahi dara nahi hai. Samajh nahi aa rahi hai -- karein to kya karein? (Is Pakistan scared to announce their squad? No, it isn't, just unsure what to do and what not)," said Basit in a video on his YouTube channel.
