Ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, former India head coach Ravi Shastri on Wednesday opened up on the rivalry between India and Pakistan and also provided insights on head coach Gautam Gambhir's remarks, as per the ICC. Gambhir recently said the importance of the Champions Trophy group stage fixture against Pakistan was the same as every other fixture at the event, with all games at the tournament of equal value. Speaking to host Sanjana Ganesan on the latest edition of The ICC Review, Shastri stated that while he had spoken of the fixture in the same light back when he was head coach, there's more to it.

The match officials' list for the Champions Trophy 2025 is out. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday announced a list of 15 match officials, including three match referees and 12 umpires for the Champions Trophy 2025, scheduled to commence in Karachi on February 19 with the final on March 9. The event will be held at three venues in Pakistan - Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi - while India will play all its matches (including semi-final and final if it qualifies) in Dubai, starting with a clash against Bangladesh on February 20.

After recovering from a left hamstring injury, right-arm seamer Gerald Coetzee made a comeback to the national team as South Africa announced the squad for the ODI tri-series in Pakistan. Rob Walter, South Africa's white-ball coach, named a 12-man squad for the first match of the series, including Coetzee, who has recovered from an injury setback. It hasn't quite gone the way England would have liked but skipper Jos Buttler on Wednesday said the ongoing tour of India is "as good a preparation as you can have" for this month's Champions Trophy given the similarities in conditions with Pakistan where his team will be based for the event. Buttler also believes that veteran batter Joe Root will play a pivotal role in both the ODI series against India, starting Thursday, and the upcoming Champions Trophy, given his experience.
