India vs England: Ravindra Jadeja In Elite Club With Third Test Ton, Greats Laud Effort

Ravindra Jadeja continued from where he left on Day 1 in the fifth rescheduled Test against England at Edgbaston and scored only his third Test ton. He reached the three-figure mark in style with a boundary off Matthew Potts. While Rishabh Pant's ton on Friday was fiery, No. 7 Jadeja took his time to settle in and made a late flourish on Saturday. His ton was only the fourth instance of any No. 7 or lower order Indian Test batter scoring two centuries in a calendar year, with Kapil Dev (1986), MS Dhoni (2009) and Harbhajan Singh (2010) being the other members of the elite club. This is also the third instance in Indian cricket, when two left-handers scored tons in the same innings. The earlier instances were: Sadagopan Ramesh (110)-Sourav Ganguly (125) against New Zealand in Ahmedabad (1999) and Ganguly (239)-Yuvraj Singh (169) against Pakistan in in Bengaluru (2007).

England vs India: Rishabh Pant Breaks 17-Year-Old Record Held By MS Dhoni With Century At Edgbaston

Rishabh Pant, with his blitzkrieg knock in the ongoing 5th Test against England at Edgbaston, broke a record by former India captain MS Dhoni that stood for 17 long years. Pant, who reached his fifth century in the longest format in just 89 deliveries, hit the fastest Test ton by an Indian wicketkeeper. MS Dhoni held the record with his 93-ball century against Pakistan in Faisalabad in 2005. Pant went on to score 146 off just 111 deliveries. His knock was studded with 19 boundaries and four sixes.

Pat Cummins salutes Cameron Green for mastering treacherous Galle track

Replying to Sri Lanka's below-par 212, Australia endured a top-order wobble of their own to be 100-4 but Green forged half-century partnerships with Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey to secure their decisive first-innings lead of 109. A spin-heavy Sri Lanka got a taste of their own medicine as Nathan Lyon and Travis head routed them in the second innings, paving the way for Australia's comprehensive victory inside three days. Green, who learnt his cricket on faster pitches in Western Australia, was named player-of-the-match for what proved a decisive knock in the spin-dominated contest.
