Cricket-India drop in WTC rankings, Bumrah rues batting after loss

BIRMINGHAM, England (Reuters) - As if the seven-wicket loss against England was not bad enough, India were docked two World Test Championship (WTC) points for their slow over rate in the rearranged fifth test at Edgbaston.

Sri Lanka vs Australia: Cameron Green Says "Clear Gameplan" Ahead Of Second Test

Australia's Cameron Green said on Tuesday that batting bravely on a turning Galle pitch will remain key as the tourists look to clinch the series in the second Sri Lanka Test. Green, a batting all-rounder, stood out with his fifth Test half-century in the team's crushing win last week to go 1-0 up in the two-match series. Australia's first innings total of 321 saw man-of-the-match Green make 77, with Usman Khawaja and wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey also taking the attack to the opposition bowlers.

Updated World Test Championship Points Table After India's Humbling Loss In Edgbaston Test To England

The Indian cricket team went down tamely on the final day of the rescheduled fifth Test against England to lose by 7 wickets as Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root smashed unbeaten centuries to take the hosts to an emphatic win. This is England's fourth straight win on home soil, and as many under the leadership of captain Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum. England ultra aggressive approach had a role to play in this victory but India are to be blamed for the loss.

"Who Made The Call": Ex-Pakistan Star Questions Ravichandran Ashwin's Omission From India Playing XI For Edgbaston Test

Having been in control for much of the ongoing rescheduled fifth Test against England at Edgbaston, India found themselves on the back foot at stumps on Day 4. Apart from Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant, the Indian batting failed to come to the party in the second innings, and were bowled out for 245, setting England a target of 378 runs to win the fifth Test. Despite the batters' failings in the second innings, India still would have been quietly confident with England needing to chase over 350 runs to win the match -- a feat that has never been accomplished at Edgbaston.

"Kaun Sa?": Pakistan Cricket Team Captain Babar Azam Enquires After Reporter Says He Broke Virat Kohli's Record

Babar Azam's rise in Pakistan and world cricket has been quite steady over the last few years. He emerged as an exciting talent and after some exhilarating performances with the bat, soon got counted among the best in the world. He was then promoted as the Pakistan captain too. While many former cricketers have argued that on current form he is perhaps the best batter in the world, others have spoken about expanding the 'Top 4' of international batting elite group into a 'Top 5' to include Babar along with the likes of Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Ramiz Raja Uses Bulletproof Vehicle Owing To Security Threat: Report

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has told the national assembly standing committee on sports that he uses a bulletproof vehicle because of a security threat. Responding to questions on the benefits and perks he gets as chairman of the board, Ramiz said he is "not a big financial burden" on the PCB as the former national team captain, among other things, also takes care of his medical expenses. "Ramiz did tell the committee members at one stage that he only used the bullet proof vehicle of the board because of a security threat otherwise he avoided taking any perks from the PCB," a source aware of the meeting proceedings said.
