Suryakumar Yadav retains no.2 spot in batters' list ahead of T20 World Cup

Suryakumar Yadav will enter the T20 World Cup as the second best batter in the format following an update of the ICC Men's Player Rankings issued on Wednesday. Pakistan opener Mohammad Rizwan (861 rating points) has extended his lead at the top of the T20I batter rankings after yet another consistent showing during the tri-series in New Zealand, while Suryakumar (838) is still second ahead of the blockbuster clash between the two neighbours at the MCG on Sunday. KL Rahul (13), Virat Kohli (15) and skipper Rohit Sharma (16) are all static in the latest update.

In it's statement PCB mentioned that it was "surprised and disappointed" at the comments made by Mr Shah and that such a step could impact Pakistan's participation in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in India in 2023.

India's second and final warm-up game against New Zealand was on Wednesday abandoned without a ball being bowled due to persistent rain at The Gabba in Brisbane. Both the Indian and New Zealand teams failed to hit the ground as heavens opened up during Pakistan's chase of 155 against Afghanistan at the same venue in the first practice match of the day.

PCB says Jay Shah's statement can 'split' cricketing communities, requests ACC to call emergency meeting

In its first official response to Shah's statement that India would like to play the continental tournament at a neutral venue and not tour Pakistan, the PCB said "such statements can spilt the Asian and international cricket communities" and impact Pakistan's visit to India for the 2023 World Cup. Shah, who made the statement after the BCCI AGM on Tuesday, also happens to be the ACC president. "The overall impact of such statements have the potential to split the Asian and international cricketing communities, and can impact Pakistan's visit to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and future ICC Events in India in the 2024-2031 cycle.
