Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik can be accommodated in playing XI if Hardik Pandya is fifth bowler: Sunil Gavaskar

Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant in the playing XI by making Hardik Pandya the fifth bowling option in the upcoming T20 World Cup. The Rohit Sharma-led side, who will open their campaign against Pakistan in Melbourne on Sunday, have two wicketkeeper-batter options in Karthik and Pant, both of them vying for a spot in the XI. As the India think-tank ponders over its team combination ahead of the Pakistan clash, the legendary 73-year-old feels both could be accommodated. “It's just that maybe, if they decide to go with six bowlers, with Hardik Pandya being the sixth bowler, then he (Pant) may not be able to find a place," Gavaskar said on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Live'.

Shaheen Afridi and Lockie Ferguson lead five bowlers who can spell doom for batters at T20 World Cup

The famous punch line “Pace is Pace Yaar” was born after Wahab's over and its loose English translation would mean real pace is the real deal. As we move towards the main round of T20 World Cup at the business end of the Australian winter, pace will rule the roost; although on slightly slower tracks, fuller lengths will be equally important. While spinners are expected to play a key role on the Australian tracks despite the soggy weather, those with scary pace will provide an x-factor as there would still be enough bounce. The PTI looks at five bowlers, who have the ability to make a difference for their respective teams. With no Jasprit Bumrah in the Indian line-up, the ‘Men In Blue' are missing a trick.

Taking good and bad positively during his recovery from injury helped Hardik Pandya get back to best

Hardik could potentially be the deciding factor if India are to do well in the T20 World Cup in Australia. India open their campaign against Pakistan on Sunday. Ahead of his departure to Australia, the 29-year-old opened up about the important role played by his family. Pandya has spent a considerable amount of time on his fitness over the last 18 months after recurring injuries kept him away from bowling. He is now bowling regularly for India, lending much needed balance to the side. "It has to do a lot with helping myself to go back to the basics and approaching everything on a positive note. Because of that I have got peace in my life looking at the brighter side always."

Home ministry will decide if the Indian cricket team will travel to Pakistan: Sports Minister Anurag Thakur

Pakistan for the Asia Cup next year but feels chances of the players going across the border "aren't much". Thakur though is expecting that Pakistan team will come to India to compete in the 50-over World Cup next year, saying "all are welcome". BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chief, had on Tuesday said that Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for the continental event and they would like to compete in the tournament at a neutral venue. It had prompted Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to say that it may affect its team's participation in the World Cup in India. "All teams who qualify for (World Cup) are invited (to compete on the Indian soil). Many times Pakistan teams have come to India and played. I feel India is not in a position to be dictated (by someone) and there is no reason for anyone to do that. "I expect all countries to come and compete," Thakur told a select gathering of journalists when asked about the controversy that erupted after Shah's statement.
