Babar Azam Equals Skipper MS Dhoni In Elite List, On Verge Of Claiming World Record In T20Is

Pakistan started their T20I series against New Zealand with a comprehensive victory thanks to a brilliant bowling performance by Haris Rauf in Lahore on Friday. The win was also extremely special for skipper Babar Azam as he equalled MS Dhoni's record of 41 victories as captain in T20I cricket. It was the 100th T20I match for Babar and 67th as captain of the Pakistan cricket team. Overall, Babar is joint second the list of skippers with most wins in the shortest format of the sport behind  former England captain Eoin Morgan and ex-Afghanistan skipper Asghar Stanikzai. Both of them led their respective national teams to 42 victories and Babar is just one win away from the world record.

"Shaheen Afridi We All Want": Pakistan Star Picks First International Wicket After PSL Triumph. Watch

Star pacer Shaheen Afridi, who recently led Lahore Qalandars to their second consecutive Pakistan Super League (PSL) title, returned to action during the first T20I against New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. However, Shaheen, who rested for the T20I series against Afghanistan, didn't take too long to make his mark, striking in his second over to remove Will Young, who went for a booming off-drive but only managed to get a thick inside edge and the ball rattled his middle and off-stumps.

"Next Best Batter After Virat Kohli...": Ex Pakistan Captain's Big Compliment For India Star

With a penchant for making big scores, Shubman Gill could be the next big thing in Indian cricket, feels for Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja. Gill, who has already scored a century at least in every format, showed his class en route to a sublime 67 off 49 balls in Gujarat Titans' six-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League here on Thursday. After seeing his knock against PBKS, Raja suggested Gill could be the likely successor to Virat Kohli.

Matt Henry picked up a hat-trick spread across two overs in the first T20I against Pakistan in Lahore to join an elite group of New Zealand bowlers. Henry had derailed Pakistan's innings in the 13th over with the wickets of Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed off back-to-back deliveries. Shadab was caught out by Latham off the penultimate ball of the over and Itikhar fell the next ball, edging again to the wicketkeeper. Henry returned in the 19th over to dismiss Shaheen Afridi off the first ball, caught brilliantly near the ropes by Daryl Mitchell off the first ball in the over.

England's new batting sensation Harry Brook brought a high-flying Kolkata Knight Riders down to earth with a sensational 55-ball century as Sunrisers Hyderabad cantered to its second victory by 23 runs in an IPL match, at Eden Gardens on Saturday. Young Brook finally managed to crack the IPL code in style with SRH managing a massive 228 for 4 in their stipulated 20 overs on a batting beauty. Their bowlers despite some hammering from home skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh were restricted to 205 for 7 in 20 overs.
