ICC on Wednesday confirmed the changes in the schedule of 2023 ODI World Cup set to take place in India in October-November. The apex governing body of cricket has confirmed that the match between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will be played on October 14, instead of October 15 which was in the previous schedule. ICC, in a release, also stated that Pakistan and England will have three of their games rescheduled (either date or time), while dates of India's two games have been altered. That India versus Pakistan match will be advanced by a day after security agencies expressed inability to provide adequate security on October 15, which is the first day of Hindu festival, Navratri.
The blockbuster India v Pakistan clash is one of nine matches to be rescheduled for the 50-over World Cup later this year as the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday that tickets will go on sale on Aug. 25.

Pakistan national men's selection committee on Wednesday named the squads for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Afghanistan and the Asia Cup 2023. An 18-player squad will take on Afghanistan in Sri Lanka from 22 till 26 August and it will be trimmed to 17 players for the Asia Cup. Shan Masood and Ihsanullah have been dropped from the side, which played New Zealand in the five ODIs in April and May to miss out. Also, Saud Shakeel has only been included for the Afghanistan series.
Team India's ICC ODI World Cup match against arch-rivals Pakistan has been rescheduled to a different date, while details of eight other matches have also been changed. India and Pakistan were initially scheduled to face each other on October 15. However, the match will now be played a day earlier on October 14. Eight other fixture have been resheduled, including India's game against Netherlands, which will now be played on November 12, instead on Novemeber 11.
New Zealand have not ruled out the recovering Kane Williamson from the ODI World Cup in India even if it means missing the first few fixtures. Head coach Gary Stead and the team management are optimistic about Williamson's recovery. The star batter hasn't played any cricket since March when he ruptured the ACL in his right knee while fielding for Gujarat Titans. He underwent surgery in April and has recently begun training and batting in the nets. The 33-year-old is also set to link up with the team during its series against England next month ahead of the World Cup.
