After over a month of stunning rugby, the Rugby World Cup comes to a conclusion in France this Saturday.
Star India batter Virat Kohli was one big hit away from equalling former teammate and batting great Sachin Tendulkar's record of most ODI centuries. However, Kohli, who was batting on 95, holed out in the deep during India's World Cup 2023 match against New Zealand in Dharamsala last week. So far, Kohli has scored 48 tons in the format, only one less than the 'Master Blaster'. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, however, has predicted that Kohli will break Tendulkar's during the match against South Africa in Kolkata on November 5.
Shubman Gill focused on his short ball play as seven Indian cricketers sweated it out under the strong Lucknow sun, two days ahead of their Cricket World Cup 2023 fixture against England. Gill, who has amassed five hundreds this year, is yet to set the World Cup stage on fire after recovering from dengue that forced him to miss the first couple of games. In three games since then, the classy opener has scores 26, 53 and 16. With 1,325 runs and counting in ODIs this year, Gill has looked good in all the innings but has not been able to make it count. As India look to maintain their unbeaten run in the tournament, a special effort will be expected from Gill, who got out slashing at a short and wide ball against New Zealand in Dharamsala. However, facing the short ball is something that Gill relishes.
Five-time champions Australia will face New Zealand in Match 27 of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. The match will be played at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday. Australia found themselves in a spot of bother early on in the tournament with two consecutive defeats to begin their tournament, but they are now on course with three big wins on the trot. It all began with a hard-fought win against Sri Lanka, where they had their moments of struggle but emerged triumphant.
New Zealand are set to resume their Trans-Tasman rivalry against Australia in Match 27 of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. The match will be played at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Saturday. New Zealand have had a great outing so far, besides the one blemish against India which led to their first defeat of the tournament. The Kiwis began on a strong note, defeating defending champions England comprehensively courtesy of centuries from Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra.
Former Indian cricket team fast bowler S Sreesanth believes that future batters will find it difficult to break the records that Virat Kohli will end up establishing by the end of his career. Kohli has already added massive milestones to his illustrious career and he is just one away from equaling legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar's feat of scoring the highest number of centuries in ODI cricket. Kohli came close to achieving the feat against New Zealand and with several matches remaining in the ongoing Cricket World Cup 2023, it is possible that the talented right-hander will be able to surpass Tendulkar very soon.
The sixth Rugby World Cup clash between South Africa and New Zealand is as big as it gets. The Springboks are one win away from making World Cup history.
Hooker Lark Atkin-Davies scored four tries from the back of the driving maul as top-ranked England continued its mastery over No. 4 Canada, winning 45-12 Friday at the WXV women's rugby tournament in Dunedin, New Zealand.
