Training zor shor se chal rahi hai bhaisaab, bas jaake desh ke liye medal lana hai" (Training is in full swing. Just have to go there and try and win a medal for my country) - India's star wrestler Ravi Dahiya (57kg) told TimesofIndia.com while gearing up for his maiden Commonwealth Games appearance. Dahiya has been in great form over the last year or so. The 24-year-old wrestler from Nahri village, in Sonipat, won a silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics last year and then a gold medal at the Asian Championships in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, in April earlier this year. This was Dahiya's third gold medal at the Asian Championships overall and the youngster is eager to continue his gold-medal winning spree at the CWG.

Canada's Catherine Beauchemin-Pinard won the gold medal in the women's under-63 kilogram category Saturday at the Zagreb Grand Prix judo tournament, one day after compatriot Christa Deguchi won gold in the under-57-kilogram category.
Two other female boxers -- Kalaivani Srinivasan and Jamuna Boro -- signed off with silver medals. With the addition of two gold, two silver and 10 bronze on the final day, the 33-member Indian contingent concluded its campaign with an overall tally of 14 medals. Alfiya did not have to break a sweat and got an unanimous 5-0 verdict as she proved too strong for her opponent, the 2016 world champion, Lazzat Kungeibayeva, in the women's 81kg final.
Jamuna, who hails from Assam, produced a clinical performance against the home boxer to emerge victorious by unanimous margin in the 54kg semi-final. Apart from Jamuna, three other Indian boxers, Kalaivani Srinivasan (48kg), Gitika (48kg) and Alfiya (81+kg) will play the final on Monday. Jamuna's speed and footwork were spot on as she managed to evade her opponent's punches several times before freeing herself up to land a few of her own towards the end of the opening round.
The 2018 World Championships bronze medallists Simranjit lived up to the favourite's tag with a dominating start to her campaign by pulling off a comprehensive win against local boxer Ischanova Nazym by an unanimous decision in the women's 60kg bout. Ananta, on the other hand, faced a stiff challenge from Mongolian pugilist Dorjnyambuu Ganbold. However, the Indian kept his cool during an intensely fought men's 54kg thriller and eventually managed to tilt the result in his favour by a narrow 3-2 verdict.
