Sen fought with a lot of heart after losing the first game in the final to ultimately clinch the match 19-21, 21-19 and 21-16.
Indian paddler Sathiyan Gnanasekaran clinched the bronze medal in the men's singles at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Monday. This was Sathiyan's first singles medal at the CWG. The Indian defeated England's Paul Drinkhall 4-3 in the bronze playoff. The match was fought hard and both players went above and beyond to display their superiority, but the Indian was way better and claimed the bronze medal with a scoreline of 11-9, 11-3, 11-5, 8-11, 9-11, 10-12, 11-9. His match against England's Paul Drinkhall was a tale of two halves. The 29-year-old had a wonderful start, winning the first three games.

India's sporting icon Sindhu added a CWG gold to her already bulging collection with a convincing straight game win over Canada's Michelle Li. The world number seven from India outplayed her 13th ranked opponent 21-15, 21-13 in front of a packed crowd at the NEC arena.
Rising star of Indian badminton Lakshya Sen showed big match temperament as he came back from a game down to win the men's singles final against Malaysia's Tze Yong NG. Lakshya won 19-21, 21-9, 21-16. This has been a break out season for the youngster, which has seen him win a bronze at the World Championships and also finish as runners-up at the prestigious All England Championships.
It was double delight for India in badminton on Monday as ace shuttlers PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen delivered gold medals by winning their respective women's and men's singles finals. PV Sindhu beat Canada's Michelle Li 21-15, 21-13 in the 2022 Commonwealth Games women's singles badminton final to win her first gold medal in singles at a multi-sport event. A former world champion and two-time Olympic medallist, Sindhu had won a silver medal at the last Commonwealth Games in singles and also won the silver medal at the Asian Games in 2018.
