Saudi Arabia edged closer to a spot at next year’s World Championship after defeating Kuwait 34-31 on Tuesday in their third match of the 2022 AHF Asian Men’s Youth Handball Championship taking place in Bahrain.
The final spot at Asia Cup 2022 will be decided during the final day of the ongoing qualifier, with three teams still in contention to play India and Pakistan in the tournament. Hong Kong began their campaign in the qualifiers by defending 148 runs successfully against Singapore thanks to a superb spell by Ehsan Khan (3/20). Then, they defeated Kuwait to move to the top of the table. They will have to defeat UAE on Wednesday to make it out of the qualifier as the top team.
Hong Kong will be taking on UAE in the sixth and final match of the Asia Cup qualifier on Wednesday at Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman. So far, Hong Kong have remained unbeaten in the tournament, as they defeated Singapore and Kuwait in their first two games. Meanwhile, UAE have lost one game, out of the two they have played. The clash between the two sides will be interesting one as Hong Kong will look to flawlessly end their Asia Cup qualifier campaign. It will be a double header as earlier in the day, Singapore and Kuwait will also be squaring off against each other.
After facing an 8-wicket defeat against Hong Kong on Tuesday, Kuwait will be going up against Singapore in Match No 5 of the Asia Cup qualifiers on Wednesday at Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman. So far, Kuwait have played two matches and won one out of them, where they defeated UAE. Singapore on the other hand, are yet to register their first win of the tournament, as they have lost their opening games against Hong Kong and UAE. It will be interesting to see whether the clash against Kuwait will bring good results for Singapore or not.
Kuwait and Hong Kong will be facing each other in Match No. 4 of the Asia Cup qualifiers on Tuesday at Al Amerat Cricket Ground, Oman. Hong Kong played the opening game of the tournament against Singapore and registered an 8-run victory. On the other hand, Kuwait clinched the victory by 1 wicket against UAE, in their first clash. Earlier on Monday, both UAE and Singapore went against each other, where UAE won by 47 runs. It will be interesting to see whether Kuwait will be able to dominate Hong Kong on Tuesday or not.
When UAE last made a trip to Muscat for a cricket tour, back in February, it ended joyously.
