"Pakistan Not Losing Money": Ex-India Star On Why Champions Trophy Model Is Bad News For India

The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that next year's Champions Trophy will be held in a hybrid model, with India's matches not taking place in Pakistan. The decision from the apex board comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to send its players to Pakistan for the event. In return, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) asked for a similar methodology to be used for ICC events taking place in India. The PCB's request was agreed, meaning Pakistan would not travel to India for any ICC event till 2027.

"R Ashwin Not Treated Fairly, Rohit Sharma Said...": Ex CSK Star Makes Bold Claim

One of India's finest cricketers of this generation, Ravichandran Ashwin stunned the sporting world with his abrupt retirement announcement after the end of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane. Ashwin, who bows out as India's second-highest wicket-taker across formats, didn't even get to feature in a farewell game, as he decided it was time for him to say goodbye to the international stage. While many theories have emerged behind Ashwin's exit, former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Subramaniam Badrinath has claimed that the spinner was unhappy for quite some time.

After Champions Trophy Debacle, Pakistan Hockey Face Visa Issue To Travel To India

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has been told to secure government clearance before confirming participation in the FIH Junior World Cup scheduled in India at the end of next year. PHF Secretary-General Rana Mujahid said the team would require a No Objection Certificate from the federal government for the national squad to travel for the FIH event to be held in December of 2025. "Normally we have always been permitted by our government to play in major events in India in recent years despite the strained relations between the two countries. But now we have been informed to first get clearance before finalising the team and confirming participation," he told the media here.

Australia Domestic One-Day Cup Renamed After Late Dean Jones

Australian cricket's domestic One-Day Cup was Friday renamed the Dean Jones Trophy to honour a pioneer of the 50-over game. Jones, who died of a heart attack in India in 2020 aged 59, was one of Australia's greatest ODI players. He scored 6,068 runs across 164 appearances in the format, which he was widely credited with revolutionising with his attacking approach. "He was a World Cup winner, an innovator and possessed one of the best records in 50-over cricket for the era that he played," said Cricket Australia chief Nick Hockley.

"Very Very Lazy": ICC Blasted Over Delay In Champions Trophy Decision

Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir welcomed the hybrid model of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to be hosted by Pakistan, noting that even if the Indian-Pakistan match "happens on the moon, fans will find a way". In an exclusive interview with Cricket Predicta, Amir also said that the governing body of the sport acted lazily on the matter of the Champions Trophy, saying that the deadlock should have been resolved sooner. In the first major decision under the chairmanship of Jay Shah, the International Cricket Council (ICC) finally put an end to the Champions Trophy 2025 hosting rights issue, deciding that the upcoming event will be played in Pakistan along with another neutral venue. Also, the hybrid model has been decided for all ICC events in the 2024-27 cycle which will be held in India or Pakistan.
