Scott Styris feels Hardik Pandya is better than Shardul Thakur as all-rounder

Scott Styris said that he doesn't see Shardul Thakur as an all-rounder. "One thing he (Shardul Thakur) has at his advantage is the fact that he bats, and we've seen him play many match-winning innings for India usually in the longer versions of the game. But he does possess that ability to hit boundaries, close out innings or put the final touches, the cherry on the top if you like is one thing that he does have to his advantage," said Scott Styris.

CWG 2022: Vinesh Phogat's crucial step towards redemption

Her loss evoked a spate of criticism — from the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), media, coaches, fans, etc. The federation even suspended her temporarily. Charges flew thick and fast, ranging from Vinesh refusing to stay with the Indian contingent to her not wearing the name of the official sponsor of the Indian team. The wrestler’s Hungarian coach was also accused of misusing government funds. All this made Vinesh think about her wrestling future and she “contemplated retirement” from the sport. She also went on to write an article, stating how her struggles in Tokyo were accentuated due to the absence of her regular physio Poornima Ngomdir, who wasn’t given accreditation for the Tokyo Games by the Indian Olympic Association. Vinesh also admitted to “suffering from depression” in the past. At the selection trials for the 2021 World Championships, Vinesh conceded a match due to “blurred vision and dizziness” - a recurring condition that stemmed from a concussion in 2017 that she had kept hidden for years. A month after the Olympics, Vinesh underwent a surgery on her right elbow. Later she tweeted: “How many times I fall, I will rise again (sic).”

Watch: Shikhar Dhawan Hilariously Attempts Push-Ups, Draws Laughter From Teammates In First ODI vs West Indies

However, Dhawan drew laughter from his teammates with his hilarious antics during the West Indies' chase. Watch: Mohammed Siraj, Sanju Samson Turn Heroes For India With West Indies Needing Five Off Last Ball

It was a nervy win for India in the first ODI against West Indies in Port of Spain on Friday. After India had set a 309-run target, the hosts needed 15 off the last over being bowled by Mohammed Siraj. The Indian fast bowler gave away 10 runs off the first five balls. The equation was simple on the last ball - five to win or four to take the match to the Super Over. On the final ball, Romario Shepherd was on strike as Siraj attempted a yorker. It went past the batter towards the leg stump, but wicketkeeper Sanju Samson stretched himself to stop a boundary and take India to win.
