Shardul had to take to Twitter, requesting Air India to help him with the scenario as no support staff was present to come to his aid. Seeing the tweet, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh intervened. Bhajji assured Shardul of all help and credit to him, he got the matter resolved in little to no time.

South Africa have named Marco Jansen as the replacement for all-rounder Dwaine Pretorius in the T20 World Cup squad after the player sustained an injury and was ruled out of the tournament. Pretorious, who played a pivotal role for South Africa with both bat and ball in recent years, will miss the T20 World Cup after breaking his left thumb during the recent T20 International series against India. Chahar, who was among the stand-by players, was expected to make the main squad in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah but it is understood that his back injury will take time to heal. Pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur will now join the Indian team in Australia, ahead of the team's first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 23.

Chahar, who was among the stand-by players, was expected to make the main squad in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah but it is understood that his back injury will take time to heal. "Deepak will take some time to get fit. His back issue has flared up again. His ankle is fine and there wasn't any problem there. So BCCI is sending three reinforcements. Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur," a BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity. Chahar had competed in the T20 series against South Africa but developed a back issue and was forced to skip the ODI series. He reported to National Cricket Academu (NCA) for rehabilitation.

Steyn went on to explain how the Australian conditions would be just perfect for the Indian No. 4 to hit top-gear. The Rohit Sharma-led side will face Australia on October 17 at the Gabba in the official warm-up game before taking on Pakistan in their tournament opener on October 23.
